HONORING FATHERS

who is a father ?

A father may be biological or non-biological.

Biological father is the man from who’s sperm or semen you came. Basically the man that gave birth to you.

^{My Father}

Non-Biological father is any man who has played an important role in your upbringing as a person. That person may be your pastor, your teacher or anyone who played the basic roles of a biological father yet wasn’t the one who gave birth to you.

^{My uncle} He has done a lot in my life as a kid. Doesn't he decieve my honor ? Will I deny him the due honor because he isnt my biological father? The answer is obviously no. Whether or not a man gave birth to you, it is prudent of you to give him the due respect and honor.

People find it difficult to honor fathers because they feel a father must earn their honor by being honorable. Unfortunately, many sons and daughters are disappointed in the lives of their fathers.

Many sons think they will do better than their parents have done with money, relationships and other opportunities of life.
It is true that most parents fall short of the ideal father and mother.

Every parent is a phantom of what he could be.

God knows that many of the parents of ‘good’ people are not “good” and yet, He gave a blanket instruction that fathers and mothers should be honored. The obvious moral, financial and marital failings of fathers have nothing to do with the honor that God has commanded us to give them.
Therefore, don’t hold any grudge against your father and allow God to do the judging.
Remember that one day you will also become a parent.

Every father, no matter who he is, is due the honor commanded by God for him.
