Plagiarism

Plagiarism means the presentation of another person's intellectual property as one's own. It's is not just limited to copying text graphics, methods, paraphrased texts and ideas.

People atimes are ignorant of what plagiarism entails because they do it out of mistakes while some people do it intentionally. Regardless, plagiarism is an illigal pratice. Therefore, giving full reference and acknowledgement provides your audience with the information necessary to find that source prevent plagiarism.

Ways to avoid plagiarism

  • Present your own idea: The time and the energy an individual wastes to copy someone else's work or idea can be used to think and create a unique content from his/her brain. Being creative is a key attribute to creating original contents.

  • Cite your source: Whenever an individual uses ideas and words that are not his/hers, adding a citation of the original source of your work is very important as this prevents the individual from being a plagiarist and also makes his/her work very professional.

  • Use a plagiarism checker: After writing your contents, the use of online plagiarism checker is important as it helps the individual to notice any form of plagiarism in his/her content.

  • Including quotes: This is one of the best ways of avoiding plagiarism. Using quotation marks around the source's words that you are using in your work means the words are not yours and this helps to avoid plagiarism.

For example

The fool doth think he is wise, but the wise man knows himself to be a fool.” William Shakespeare source

  • Paraphrase accurately: This implies an individual using his/her own words to explain source's and ideas without changing it's original meaning. This can be done effectively by avoiding the use of too many similar words and phrases from the source.

In conclusion, I have read and understood the steemit rules/etiquette on content and I promise to do my best to embrace them.
Thanks for reading through!
