Hi steemians, I hope you all are doing great, and I also hope that you are having a great time giving this community the best of what your brain got. Lol
I am so excited to be writing again and this time around, it is my achievement 3 and right here, I will be talking about the act of plagiarism, what it is and what it stands for. Enjoy the best of your time reading this article.

What is Plagiarism

The act of plagiarism can be likened to one going into the supermarket with an intention to buy goods with cash at hand but later decides to take the goods without the shop keepers knowledge, more likely an attempt to steal.

It is the act of taking someone else's ideas and passing them off as one's own. In an educational context, It is considered a violation of academic integrity and a breach of journalistic ethics; subject to penalties like expulsion from school or work, substantial fines and even incarceration. source

Plagiarism in my own language is a show of incompetency. It is one admitting to the fact that he or she cannot create content that is worth the attention of an audience from his or her brain without having to appropriate or copy another's.
This act thus stands as a dent on one's reputation as it speaks poorly of a person and his or her abilities.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

Direct Plagiarism

This type of plagiarism is taking another person's work and passing it off as your own without changing anything. This could also be called copy and paste.

paraphrasing without credit

This is when one tries to change the wordings of someone else's work without indicating its source or giving them credit.

Mosaic Plagiarism

This kind of plagiarism is when one paraphrase content so that there appears a mixture of the source words and his or her personal words. This kind of plagiarism can also be referred to as self-plagiarism.

Accidental Plagiarism

This is when one uses content from a source but forgets to place the citation.

Misattribution

This is when one gives credit to a different source for the information that comes from another source.

How can we avoid plagiarism?

  • Always keep in mind and track the sources of your research.
  • whenever you want to give an idea that is not yours, put in quotes to indicate.
  • Make use of a plagiarism checker for every one of your articles to be sure you're not plagiarising.
  • Give credits to your sources by direct citations using links and providing a reference list.

In conclusion, since plagiarism doesn't speak good of a person, it is necessary to avoid plagiarising, in order to avoid the ruining consequences that come with it, and if one has to make use of content that doesn't belong to him or her, it is so necessary to site, to show Genuity and competency.

Yes, I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them.
