Achievement 2 @josantos Task : Basic Security on Steem
Hello guys,
Am so delighted to write on my achievement2 task, which talks about basic security on steem. My appreciation goes to all who have supported me so far.
Today I will be discussing briefly on all I have learnt so far on security measures and how I intend to keep my steemit keys save to avoid external body from getting access to it. First and foremost, let's list out all they keys present in steemit.
- Tron account keys
- Posting key
- Active key
- Owner key
- Memo key
- Public keys
Tron Private Key
The private key has the highest authority on your TRON account. It is used for signing transactions of TRON, such as transferring tokens, freezing and voting.
TRON Private Key Permissions
- Transfer tokens
- Freeze and unfreeze TRX
- Vote for TRON SRs
- Explore TRON ecology
POSTING KEY
This key should be used for social networking actions, like posting, commenting and voting on other people's post.
Posting Key permissions
- Publish a post or comment
- Edit a post or comment
- Upvote or downvote
- Resteem content
- Follow people
- Mute accounts
ACTIVE KEY
This key has additional permissions for more sensitive monetary-related actions, like transferring and exchanging tokens.
When performing a wallet related action, you may be prompted to authenticate with your Active key.
Active Key permissions
- Transfer tokens
- Power STEEM up or down
- SBD conversion
- Vote for witnesses
- Place an order on an exchange
- Certain profile changes
- Publish a Witness price feed
- Create a new user
OWNER KEY
The owner key is required to change the other keys. This key has additional permissions to recover your account or change your other keys. It's the most important key and should be securely stored offline.
Owner Key permissions
- Reset Owner, Active, and Posting keys
- Recover your account
- Decline voting rights
MEMO KEY
The Memo key because it is a bit of an outlier. The only thing the Memo Key can do is encrypt and decrypt private messages that are sent through the blockchain.
Memo Key permissions
- Send an encrypted message
- View an encrypted message
PUBLIC KEYS
Each Steem Key has a public and private key to encrypt and decrypt data. Public keys are associated with usernames and can be used to look up associated transactions on the blockchain. Your public keys are not required for login on Steemit.com and you don't need to store these safely.
Question 1:Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit?
Yes, all they keys I will be needing for steemit, I have successfully downloaded them.
Question 2:Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?
Yes, I have studied all they keys and I know their functions and restrictions.
Question 3:How do you plan to keep your master password?
I have save my master password in my email and also in they hard drive of my computer.
Question 4:Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?
Yes, I have actually done that, all you need is go to your wallet and click on the reverse triangle on steem then a menu will pump out, requiring receiver username, amount and memo. Below is a screenshot of that.
Question 5:Do you know how to power up your STEEM?
You can actually power up your steem, following the same procedure you used in question 4 above, just that this time when you click on they reverse triangle you will select power up and then put the amount. Below is a screenshot of that.
