CONTENT ETIQUETTE

Etiquette is defined as the formal manners and rules that are followed in social or professional settings. Therefore, content etiquette is an agreeable manner of producing and sharing original works.

##Plagiarism
This is the art of taking or copying other people's words or idea and pretending that they are their own.
According to Randolph Community college's Academic Policies, plagiarism is "the use of other 's original words or ideas as though they were your own".

##Instances of plagiarism
*Turning someone's works as your own
*Coping a phrase, sentence or passage from someone else or another source without proper citation.
*Failing to put a quotation in quotation mark".

##types of plagiarism

1). Complete plagiarism
This occur when one tries to submit an entire work or research paper as their own without proper attribution. Copying and pasting the original work in it exact words. The only difference is the change in the original writer's name.

2). Accidental plagiarism
This is copying someone's work or idea without citing their source or leave our quotation marks on accident.

3). Direct or verbatim plagiarism
As the name suggest, the writing is a stolen word for word and pasted into a new piece. E.g , "my mama always said life was a box of chocolates. You never know what you gonna get".

##How to avoid plagiarism

*Give yourself enough time when writing an article because when under pressure you are bound to make mistake.
*Proofread your work and make sure you have cited every source you used.

  • Add some value to the topic by including some of your own view. This shows you understand what I are talking about.

In conclusion, plagiarism is the stealing of someones work or idea without reference. Hence it should be avoided.

I have read and understand the steemit Etiquette on steemit community and will do my best to embrace them.

My appreciation goes to my guidance @ngoenyi guiding me.
