Security is freedom from threats and danger and the goal of the his Achievement task is to highlight the various measures taken to make our steemit account free from threats and any possible danger.
The possible dangers here are:
~ Loosing access keys.
~ Being hacked
~ Exposure of keys

Possessing the knowledge and having more that just a superficial knowledge of the different aspects of steemit provides the bases for managing an account securely. First of all, we need to be in full control of our Steemit account by having all our keys.

I have Full Control

I believe I have full control over my account because I am in possession of all my steemit keys. It came to me as a PDF file, giving me different levels of control over my account.

Function & limitation of each key

The Master Password:
This is mother of all keys on steemit, it has the ability to regenerate every other steemit key related to my account. This key must be given the highest level of protection.

Private Owner Key
The Private Owner key is also a very powerful key often used to reset other keys Incase we feel our keys have been exposed. This key gives us a 30 days window.

The Active Key:
The active Key has the authority to make a transfer of resources. With this key I can perform sensitive functions like:
~ Delegating Steem Power
~ Making Power Ups
~ Joining a curation trail
~ Powering Down my Steem
~ Placing a market order
~ The transfer of Steem to another user

The Posting Key:
The posting key is the most frequently used key for performing daily activities like:
~ Posting.
~ Re-steem
~ Up-votes.
~ Down-vote
~ Editing.

Memo Key:
This key was to be used in securing communications involving transactions. The use of a memo key is yet to be implemented.

Securing our Steemit Keys

A backup is the best measure we can take to protect our keys. This involves keeping the keys in a location outside our device. I have kept a soft copy in a memory card. To enhance safety, I also had to printed and saved a hard copy in a safety deposit box.
After securing my email with a two way authentication, I sent a copy of my keys to my email.

How to make a Steem Transfer:

This is how to make a Steem transfer

Step 1:

Select the wallet option at the right of the profile window.

Step 2:

Type in your username followed by your active key to gain access into your active wallet

Step 3:

Select this drop arrow and pick the transfer option from the list,

Step 4:

Enter the recipient's username which I used my name in this case and I also mentioned the amount of Steem to be transferring being 7.349 Steem

Step 5:

Click next below folloed by ok as your final confirmation.

How to Make a Power Up

Step 1:

Select the wallet option towards the right of the profile window.

Step 2:

Select the menu button at the top right corner of the screen and select sign in then use your username and active key to login to your wallet.

Step 3:

Select the arrow beside Steem and select power up

Step 4

Enter the amount of steem you will love to converted to steam power.

Step 5:

Select Power up, and Confirm the transaction.
