Do you understand how voting and curation work in steemit?

Curation in my knowledge begins with the analysis, identification and rewarding of a quality post as regards to steemit. Curation entails taking into account the relevance, markdown style, language structure, content etiquette and contribution of a post by an author and then deciding if it is of quality or not. Curation and voting usually go together. After identifying a good/quality value adding post, the next thing is to vote on the post.

On steemit, there is a stipulated amount of reward pool to be distributed on a daily basis. So when a user votes on a post, the user is simply helping to distribute steem tokens to other users from the daily reward pool.

Voting mana refers to the aggregate of power which a user has. A user can have great influence on the payout of a post depending on the users voting mana. Voting mama is usually set at 100% and gets diminished by 2%. If a user casts a 100% vote on a work, the voting mana will regain by 20% after a day and if the voting mana gets totally exhausted, then the user can no more have an influence on a post payout and has to wait for at least a day to regain 20% voting mana and maximum of 5 days to regain complete 100% mana.

Users who have their steem power (SP) less than 500 can only continue to give 100% vote for any post they see fit until their voting mana is partially or totally dinimished. If a user has upto 500 or more steem power (SP), then he can select how much power he wishes to vote his curated post with user the adjustment bar that comes up on voting.

To check a users voting manner, you can check it out on steemscan it steemworld.

What happened if you vote a post before 5 minutes marks after posting?

Time is slightly a determinant of how a curator recieves reward after a vote and how much. As a curator, it is necessary to know when to vote so as to get the maximum reward percentage.

Votng a post immediately after publishing it will return the user 20% of the curator reward and the rest 80% goes to the reward pool.

For a post that is 2 minutes old, casting a vote in it will return the curator 40% of the curator reward and the remaining 60% will go to the reward pool.

For a post that is 3 minutes old, a vote on it will return the voter 60% of the curation. Reward and 40% goes to the reward pool.

For a post at 4 minutes of publishing, a vote on it will return to the voter 80% of curator reward and 20% goes to the reward pool.

For a post at 5 minutes and above, the voter gets 100% of curator rewards.

Who will you vote for Steem Witness ? and Why?

1647926386529.jpg

Steem witnesses are people who devote their time and resources in securing the steem ecosystem. They are the block validators of the steem blockchain and there presence is necessary. However, steemit operates a Proof of Stake algorithm and hence all users have a chance of voting their desired witness. Hence, witness voting us not mandated upon users.

However, it is important to know that voting a steem witness should not come from appeals or incentives rather it should be your choice as a result of the analysis of the good works which the witness has done to make steemit a better platform. Also a witness should be reputable enough.

Personally I will vote on steemchiller. I don't know any witness in person but I have chosen steemchiller because he is the number one on the list of witnesses to vote. This position has been earned as a result of amount of blocks added and the amount of people that has voted for him. In a nut shell, I mean that because more people has voted steemchiller in time past, he has been able to validate more blocks and hence I am aligning my choice with the choice of many other steemit users who believe steemchiller to be a better witness.

Which community will you join in Steemit, and why?

1647926386529.jpg

On steemit, there are lots of communities to join. When I joined steemit at first, I joined lots of communities. Communities I join are those whose activities or purpose of operation aligns with my interest or catches my fancy. For example, I joined

1. Newcomers community on recommendation as the starting point of steemit where I get to learn the basics of steemit.

2. Steemalive community because it was through a steemalive member that I was introduced to steemit and so steemalive had many promising opportunities for me.

3. Steemschool because I was a lover of poems. I love making lyrics in my head and when I learnt of steemschools which was for poem writers, I leveraged the opportunity.

4. Writingandreview: this was another superb community where I had the opportunity of displaying my fluency in works of literature.

5. Steemit Crypto Academy: I had some friends who were always talking about Cryptocurrency but I didn't understand what they said and it annoyed me. So when I learnt about cryptoacademy and it's scope, I leveraged the opportunity to level up.

6. Steem4nigeria: I have joined this community because it is my country base community and hence, I could socialise with people who understand my values better.

7. Fantasysport: I joined this this community because I love fantasy games. I started playing the fantasy premier league since 2017 and till date, I love the game. When I found out that I could compete with fellow steemians in the game and also get rewarded, I quickly joined this community.

8. Steemfood: I am not a food expert (maybe cause I am male) and so I joined this community to learn about more dishes and thier mode of preparation.

9. Stock photo: I am a lover of art works ( who doesn't like art works), so I joined this community to appreciate more art works.

10. Zero to infinity: this is one community I would not want to miss out. This community focuses on tech and science and so I could just say that this community is meant for me because of my field of study.

However, the truth is that it is one thing to join a community and another thing to be an active member. Most communities do have their members labelled for proper identification.
