What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism can be defined as, Presenting other's work, ideas, images, or any content as you own without their consent, giving them enough details and without their acknowledgment. Plagiarism can be intention or intentional.

Some other definitions which explain this term "Plagiarism"

  • Plagiarism is a type of cheating that takes someone's idea or content and making/labeling as it yours

  • Plagiarism is defined as, copying or borrowing other work and show it as yours.

  • Plagiarism included copy/paste many words, the same images without any changes, or not giving a source link within your work.

There are many ways, if we credit or mention creator/writer or provide a link, so we can use data but if we don't. We will face plagiarism which is a crime. So avoid those things, content, text which is not your own. For text, You can take ideas but re-write your own and for images, etc, someone can put or mention the author or can give them credit.

As I am showing how to give credit/mention or adding the link of source or text, and some images from other sources, so I gave a source link or I can give credit:

Different Types of Plagiarism:

  • Direct Plagiarism:
This can be defined as the direct copy/paste text of any author without his acknowledgment and using as your own and also not proper mention of the source. Often it happens that a person doesn't change one word when he copies some text from google etc and puts in his personal use/info. It comes under the crime of plagiarism.
The copy of other's text or any other writers' content is not allowed if someone does not use any source link or mention/credit him.

  • Self-Plagiarism:
This type of plagiarism is a common type of plagiarism when college and university students copy/cheat some author's or writer's content and use them as their own in report writing/paper etc.
If teachers use the plagiarism checker tool, they can fail or make a case against that student.

  • Accidental Plagiarism:
Another type of plagiarism where someone takes data/content and makes the wrong source or cites the wrong person/writer. They may use some part or text or phrase but don't mention the right source where they take that content. It will also be count as plagiarism.

  • Mosaic Plagiarism:
This is known as unintentional. Because someone uses the data/content but doesn't know how to give the source link or mention it correctly then he will commit the crime of plagiarism.
The most important part is to, if you want to use others' material in your work then you have to know well the process and well trained in it.

  • Don't try to cheat/copy others

  • Write your own and unique words.

  • If you want any help, read or concern someone but paraphrase it in your own words.

  • Use plagiarism checker if you paraphrase or write with someone's help.

Citation is very necessary if you want to use some text, images, or other content of the author/person. It is an act of reference that you took help or took this content and clear your idea and thoughts to readers.
