Hello, steemians! Hope you all doing well. Today I'm here with a new achievement post which is “Understanding curation and community”. So I will try to elaborate on how curation work in steem. Let's start with question 1.

Q1: Do you understand how voting and curation work in steemit?

There are two types of votes in steemit. Upvote and downvote. Like other social media platforms you like or dislike someone's content. Similarly, in steem when you like someone's post you upvote that post and when you dislike a post you downvote that post.

The green arrow is an upvote and the red arrow is a downvote. You need to have sufficient voting power to vote. The process of reward distribution is called curation. When you receive an upvote then after 7 days you will receive a 50% author reward. If you don't get any upvotes on your blog or post you will not get any reward.

Q2: What happened if you vote for a post before 5 minutes marks after posting?

As you know when you get an upvote on your post you will receive a 50% author reward after 7 days and the curator will get another 50% reward. If you upvote a post before 5 minutes, then a specific percentage of the curation reward goes back in the reward pool. Check the below table to understand this.

There are multiple active communities on steemit. I will join communities according to my interest. As I love Photography, Gaming, and Cooking. So I will join those communities where I can post about photography, gaming, and cooking.
