Achievement 2 @eva-love-to-eat Task : Basic Security on Steem

Back online after 4 years, I am finding this achievement task very helpful and informative.

What are keys? Not these physical keys 😁

Though I have retrieved my key (which key? - I had no idea) 4 years ago, I was not conscious of the different types of keys and their respective functions or purpose. All I knew was that I had a key with me that was the key of keys and the only key I need. Thanks to @kiwiscanfly and @cryptokannon article, understanding the type of keys and their purpose is now made easy.

With the keys being lengthy for security purposes, it was only natural that I was not able to recall any one of them. Also, there were so many of them. After 4 years of being a corporate zombie and going in and out of depression, I've decided to bid farewell to the #corporateworld.

Me looking at my PC screen now, pondering how do I log into Steemit. I remembered I kept a key and voila! Here I am! reading and writing my achievement 2 post 😎 Thankfully, I had kept the key of keys - master password (The seed password used to generate THE document with all the details of all the other keys i.e. posting, active, owner, memo) Hence, this to my understanding is the one key that leads to all.

Once you have retrieved all the keys with your master password, a PDF document will be generated titled Steem keys for @you. This document with a blue header, will detail out all your keys as well as explain the function and restrictions of each key.

TYPE OF KEYS	FUNCTION
Private Posting Key	Used for logins and posting, commenting, and voting. The most used key and least critical of all keys (but still critical). similar to passwords used to login to our social media account i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. where we can post, like, comment, etc.
Private Memo Key	Used to decrypt private transfer memos - as per document
Private Active Key	For money matters, such as transferring tokens or powering Steem up and down. similar to passwords used to login to our online banking account to transfer funds, etc.
Private Owner Key	The reset button (key). Use this key and new keys will be generated. It is advised to hmmm.... kill a branch or tree to safe keep this password (on paper). In case of emergency i.e. hacked, etc. don't panic like me😅, calmly try to remember where this key is kept and use this key within 30 days at https://steemitwallet.com and all should be well🙏🏽

How do you plan to keep your master password? Secret 😜 Some initial thoughts were to:-

1. write it on a paper (haven't written much with all the go green efforts and everything being online nowadays)
2. have it printed out on a piece of paper
3. encrypt it manually
4. store it in a pen drive or external hard disk
   open to more ideas and suggestions 🙂

Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account? Theoritically, yes but who knows till we've tried.

Do you know how to power up your STEEM? Theoritically, yes 💪🏽 Thank you👍🏽
