ACHIEVEMENT 4 || TASK: APPLYING MARKDOWN || BY @emmanuel59

in Newcomers' Community3 years ago

In this post we will be talking about application of markdown on your write up.

Markdown are commands affixed along your text in order to make your write up appear neat, aligned and presentable. When you don't apply markdown on your work, it makes your work appear in a disorderly and I arranged manner. That is to say that markdown are commands which helps you arrange your write up tasks or work.

Having said this, it is important to know some markdown commands and also how you can apply them.

SOME MARKDOWN COMMANDS

Some of the markdown commands include:

  • Justification of text
  • Centralisation of text
  • Italicising text
  • Bolding text
  • Alignment of text in both left and right sides
  • Adding subscript and superscript
  • Adding numbers
  • Block quotes.

Justification of Text

To justify a text is to make alignment of the text. The justification maybe right, left or full justification. Below is the process of making full justification of text:

Before the text you want to justify, type:

A less than sign, div give a space and type class, equal sign text hyphen justify in a quotation sign then close with a greater than sign.
< div class="text-justify">

Then when you are through with your write up, type:
A less than sign, slash, div and close with a greater than sign.
< /div>.
It is very important to know that in giving out this commands, no space is given except before class.

Centralisation of Text

To centralise a text, the following procedure is taken:
Input the less than sign, type center, close with a greater than sign, type the text you want to centralise, put the less than sign followed by a slash, type center and close with a greater than sign.
< center> Applying Markdown< /center>.
It will appear in this form:

Spaces are also not needed in giving out this commands.

Italicising Text

To make your text appear in italics form, simply put one asterisk before and after the text.
*Applying markdown *. When this is done it will appear like this: Applying Markdown

Bolding Text

In making a text appear in a bold form, use two asterisks before and after the text.
**Applying Markdown **. When it is done, it appears in this form: Applying Markdown.

Alignment of Text in Both Left And Right

To align text left or right can be done by writing < div class="pull-left" > before the text you want to align to the left and type < /div> after the text.
The same when aligning to the right, what you do is just to replace left with right.

Adding Subscript And Superscript

For you to add subscript type < sub > text < /sub>, leaving no space. For example make 2 in NO2 subscript, it will appear in this way:
NO2

To input superscript in your text you will type: < sup >text< /sup>, leaving no space.
Example: make 3 in MN3 superscript
MN3

Adding Numbers

When you want to number your text use* or -then space before the text. For instance I want to number abc and d

  • A
  • B
  • C
  • D

Block Quote

Block quotes are used to differentiate questions from answers.
To make a question appear in block quote, put this sign (>) before a text. Example,
What is your name? will appear like this in block quote

What is your name?

Conclusion

Markdowns are very important in writing as it makes your work look arranged and organised. It also gives the reader clear understanding of your work and so minimises ambiguity or misconception of ideas.
