My name is Holiness Paul , a citizen of Nigeria. Today I'm writing on my achievement3.

Plagiarism is simply the taking of someone else content, writeup, music, photo , art etc like the original owner. Claiming someone's idea and creativity without giving credit to the original owner is impersonation and an act of plagiarism.

"Plagiarism is the practice of using or copying someone else's idea or work and pretending that you thought of it or created it". source

It is well known that, nobody has the monopoly of knowledge, therefore borrowing someone's idea is not wrong but proper citation is necessary.

Type of Plagiarism

(1) Complete plagiarism: This is when one copy the entire work or idea of another person without adding any word or sentence of their own. Example A university final year student picking thesis that was written by another student some years back, erased the author's name and re-print with their own name. Or paying someone to write a project or essay and you submit with your name.

(2) Accidental Plagiarism
This type of Plagiarism is not an intended act. Maybe the writer either forgot to cite the original owner of the idea or fail to cite it correctly .

(3) Paraphrasing
This is when a writer copied someone works but changes some phrases, words and punctuation marks.

(4) Direct Plagiarism
Picking some parts of someone's idea or writeup and attached to your work without acknowledging the author of those ideas.

How to Avoid Plagiarism

(1). Acknowledging the Authors of all the ideas you adopted during the course of writing your project and reference them according.

(2) When paraphrasing, remember to use the necessary tools and also add your own idea.

(3) Always use plagiarism checker Incase accidental Plagiarism occur during the course of writing.

Conclusion
Whether direct or by mistake, copying someone's work without citing the original owner is disrespectful, devaluing and cheating. It is very important and necessary to make reference to one's idea you apply or adopt in any project you are doing in other to keep your integrity as a person.
