Hello steem family, I'm excited about the experiences of writing the achievement post series, it is highly educative and very insightful. A proper start for a beginner indeed. The last phase of the achievement series discussed in detail voting and curation, steem witnesses, etc. In this post, I will be responding to the assignment given.

Voting and Curation

Voting and Curation are reward schemes created on the steem platform that enable users to like quality content created by other users, this leads to the valuation of the post and in turn yields rewards for the author and the users that voted for the content.

The valuation of the content is split in half between the user and the voters.

How voting and curation Work

Voting influence the valuation of a post created by a user through the reward pool of the steem platform. Users vote content based on their voting Mana, which determines the level of influence a user can vote on a post.

The vote mana usually starts capped off 100% and is reduced by 2% on each post voted by the user, and recharges at the rate of 20% per day. Technically, the more vote mana used the lesser the influence on votes.

New users start with 100% vote mana, and can only vote when their vote mana is full. But users with 500SP and above can choose their voting percentage thus, reducing the effect of voting on their voting mana.

Voting a post Before 5 Mins

Upvoting or downvoting a post within the first five minutes have a significant effect on how the reward on a post will be split between the author and the curators of the post.

Ideally, the reward on posts is splitting such that 50% goes to the author and the other 50% goes to the curators. There are proportions on how 50% of the curators will be split dependent on when the curator voted the post.

If a post is voted with the following minute then, the ratio of the 50% curators will be split by:

Time	Percentage split
Within 1 Minute	20% goes to the curators
Within 2 Minutes	40% goes to the curators
Within 3 Minutes	60% goes to the curators
Within 4 Minutes	80% goes to the curators
Within 5 Minutes and above	100% goes to the curators

This shows that if a post is voted after 5minutes, the curators get a 100% stake on the 50% curators reward.

Witnesses

Witnesses are delegated users on the platform that contribute to the development and smooth operation of the steem blockchain.

They create blocks and verify issues with the transaction channels on the steem platform. A witness can be voted by the user.
