Do you understand how the voting and curation system works in Steemit?

Yes, the voting and curation system have the main purpose of working through the Power up process, the higher the voting power, the greater the reward we will obtain when voting on a publication, when we are curators of a publication, we receive 50 % profit, 50% author and the other 50% curation.
The votes we grant consume a 2% of 100% lower percentage, this means that our healing gain will be lower, for this reason we must vote 10 times a day, so as not to reduce our voting power, since it takes 24 hours to recharge 20% of 100%.

What happens if you vote on a post after 5 minutes of posting?

When we vote on a publication before 5 minutes, it is very likely that the curation reward will be lost, since it has certain parameters before making a vote.
When a post receives a positive vote at the exact moment it is published, 100% will remain in the rewards pool.
If this happens in the first minute, the curator will receive 20% and 80% will remain in the rewards pool
In the second minute, the curator will receive 40% and 60% will remain in the rewards pool.
In the third minute, the curator will receive 60% and the remaining 40% will remain in the rewards pool.
In the fourth minute, the curator will receive 80% and the remaining 20% ​​will go to the rewards pool.
When a publication receives a positive vote in 5 minutes or later after being published, 100% curation will go to the curator.
