Achievement 3: Content Etiquette by @diptimajumder
Hello good people! I hope you are doing well. I'm feeling happy because I have got my achievement 1 and 2 verified. Today I will write about content etiquette to complete my achievement 3 task.
The word etiquette means protocol or courtesy, or good manners. To live in a good society, we must follow some rules and regulations attributed to our community. We must follow some social norms to preserve harmony and a good relationship with the people in society. Similarly, Steemit is a large society with various communities. So to maintain a good connection with the people on this platform, we must follow the directions provided by Steemit. It is essential to follow content etiquette to post anything on this platform. Among the etiquettes, plagiarism is one of the crucial etiquettes to maintain.
Let us know what plagiarism is.
Plagiarism means stealing or claiming someone's actual writing, poem, image, ideas, presentation, etc., as your own, which shouldn't be happened at all.
There are many types of plagiarism, such as:
COMPLETE PLAGIARISM
Complete plagiarism takes place when someone submits another's whole text as their own work without giving the original writer any credit.
DIRECT WORD-TO-WORD PLAGIARISM
It occurs when someone steals someone else's writing word by word and claims it as their own without mentioning the original writer's name or quotes.
SOURCE-BASED PLAGIARISM
We call them source-based plagiarism when writers mention sources but falsely confer the idea with false credit and imaginary sources.
ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM
Accidental plagiarism happens by neglecting or forgetting to cite one's sources or misquoting one source.
PARAPHRASING PLAGIARISM
It happens when paraphrasing someone else's ideas as your own work using a few of your own words or phrases without crediting them.
DIRECT PLAGIARISM
Direct plagiarism is almost similar to complete plagiarism. In complete plagiarism, someone steals the entire work of others but in direct plagiarism, maybe some portion of sentences or some sections without giving any credit to the original source.
MOSAIC OR PATCHWORK PLAGIARISM
It happens when putting together different pieces of writing from various sources to complete a new text and claim it as your own.
SELF PLAGIARISM
It occurs when someone reuses their previous work as their new one. It is considered unprofessional when you write the same content for your two clients.
How to avoid plagiarism?
To avoid plagiarism, we can
• Use a plagiarism checker.
• Think and pay time before writing your text.
• By mentioning the source.
• Use quotations and name the source.
• When paraphrasing, change the sentence structure, language, and voice of a text.
• Cite the source
CITATION
There must be more to mention than just the site's name. You must give the link to the source. For numerous sources, you must add the sources after each idea.
Example of citation:
I have read and understood the etiquettes of this Steemit community and will observe all the proprieties.
Thank you
