PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism is a wrong act which often happens in our school World. Apart from academics, plagiarism happens in different other part of things we often do, but it's pronounced mainly in academics because of students.

Plagiarism is said to occur when an individual copies the work of another individual without sourcing the copied work. It's very bad to do this as it is considered stealing. One major way of avoiding plagiarism is to properly use citation.

CITATION

Citation on the other hand can be seen as a way of referencing a copied work to show that the work doesn't belong to you. It's very good to cite because it gives credit to the real owner of the work. Below is an example of how to properly cite a work.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

There are different ways people plagiarized. Some of the ways will be explained below.

PATCHWORK PLAGIARISM

Patchwork is a type of plagiarism, and it's often seen as the mixing of different ideas including the ones of the author to form another word but with thesame meaning. It's often very hard to detect when patchwork plagiarism is been done because even the authors idea is involved in this plagiarism.

PARAPHRASING PLAGIARISM

Paraphrasing is another type of plagiarism often used in our world. Paraphrasing is the changing of words in another work but the changed words still having the same meaning as the previous. Paraphrasing most times happen in examination halls where an individual copies from his colleague but tries to change some words.

COMPLETE PLAGIARISM

This is another way of Plagiarism. It's sometimes called copy and paste. When someone's entire work is copied without reference, it's called complete plagiarism.

AUTO/SELF-PLAGIARISM

Auto or self plagiarism happens when an author copies his own idea without reference. Sometimes this is done knowingly or unknowingly. It's done knowingly when the author is aware that he's plagiarizing but refuses to cite it because it's his idea and unknowingly when he knows but forgot to reference it.

ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM

There are sometimes when plagiarism is not considered intentional. An example of that time is in accidental plagiarism. This occurs when an author copies his fellow without realizing that he has copied. In accidental plagiarism, the author might have the mindset that what he's copying is his idea, without knowing that the idea has already been presented before by another person.

SOURCE-BASED PLAGIARISM

Source based plagiarism occurs when there's error in sourcing or citing a copied work. Error here means, the author wishes to cite the work but uses a different cite or uses only one cite when the work was copied from numerous cites.

PLAGIARISM IN STEEMIT

Steemit is a blogging platform that rewards users with a Crypto currency called steem. This currency is rewarded according to the effort of the individual in abstaining from certain things, and also making quality posts. Amongst those things a user is supposed to abstain from, plagiarism is the most pronounced. So in other to survive the atmosphere of this platform, plagiarism should be avoided.

I have read and understood the steemit etiquette on steemit community and will do my best to embrace them.

That's the end of today's Achievement, hope you learned from it.
