WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

Basically, pagiarism is a world problem where by writers "steal" other writers work without giving the credit for their work. However, plagiarism can be defined as illicit act in which writers tend to steal other writers works, articles or posts without appropriate citation( giving them credit for their works). In addition, Plagiarism, can also be seen as an act of online or offline content theft.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

There are diverse types of plagiarism and they include;

*SELF PLAGIARISM:

This one of the types of plagiarism, and it involves copying oneself.
Self plagiarism is a phenomenon in which a writer copy's his/her past work or includes a copy of their past work in the present work without permission.. it is basically bringing the past to the future when we have to forget about the past and move on with the present for a better future.

* DIRECT PLAGIARISM:
This in contrast is a type of plagiarism in which a writer copy's another writers every work or section of another writers work without attribution, quotation marks or citations

MOSAIC PLAGIARISM:

This is another type of plagiarism, which happens when a writer steals phrases or clauses from another writer without using a citation or quotation marks. This type of plagiarism can either be intentional or unintentional but all the same, it's still punishable.

*ACCIDENTAL PLAGIARISM:
This is a type of plagiarism that occurs due to ignorance. It is a situation whereby a writer copy's another writers content without citations.

AVOID PLAGIARISM

It is very vital for a writer to avoid plagiarism . Stealing is not good and is actually punishable by law and also you wouldn't be happy of someone steals from you.

However, there are diverse ways to avoid plagiarism.
in other to avoid plagiarism, writers have to cite the source of the content(if borrowed), apply quotation marks to borrowed content and cite images and sources.
For example:

An apple is an edible fruit produced by an apple tree (Malus domestica). Apple trees are cultivated worldwide and are the most widely grown species in the genus Malus. The tree originated in Central Asia, where its wild ancestor, Malus sieversii, is still found today. Apples have been grown for thousands of years in Asia and Europe and were brought to North America by European colonists.source

The example above talks about apples, but the work isn't mine, so i had to source where i got the work from so that the writer will receive credit for his/her work and i on the other hand will not be tagged as a content thief and will look professional.

Please, we should do well to try as much as possible to avoid plagiarism because it actually affects our social status. And also, plagiarism makes a writer to be seen by other writers as a dishonest person.

"I have read and understood Steemit's etiquette in the Steemit community and will do my best to accept them".

Thank you for your time in reading and have a beautiful and lovely weekend.
