Kogi State

Kogi state is located in the North Central part of Nigeria.
It is one of the 36 states in Nigeria.
It has 9 local government area. According to the Hausa people, kogi means "river".
This state has places like; Ajaokuta, Okene, Adavi, Ikuroko, Lokoja, Okehi, Anppa, Osara. etc.

Climatic Condition

Kogi state is said to be hot, regionally Lokoja.
Lokoja is the Capital of Kogi state, it is a hot place due to the presence of River.
The River Niger and Benue had a meeting point in Kogi State, forming the something called " confluence ".

In Geography, a confluence is a place where two rivers meet.
The forming of the confluence by river Niger and river Benue is something that can not be left aside.
During, the December and January, there is always presence of Harmattan.
It also rains a lot during the rainy season and it makes the river flows over it banks.

People of Kogi State

The main local languages present in kogi state are; Ebira, Igala, Kabba, Kotton karfe etc.
The people of Igala has 9 nine local governments, while 5 is also controlled by the Ebira people, the remaining local government areas are shared among the rest.

There are so many food common among them. There are foods like; pounded yam, cassava flour, cassava flake, cocoa yam, vegetables, melons etc.
The kogites are known for taking too much of carbohydrate class of food.

The present Governor of kogi state, is His Excellency Yahaya Bello. He his the Chief Commander of the Kogi State.
He makes rules and orders due to the supremacy within his hand.

There are many historical views in kogi State.
The first colony in Nigeria was situated at Looks.
The Former Capital territory was located in Lokoja, Kogi State.
The Territory was called" Lugard House".
Though, the territory was later shifted to Lagos State.
This happened during the Colonial Era. The Colonial era was common in Nigeria before the take over of the Military rule.
