Introduction
Hello guys,
It's really been awhile here and trust me it's not been intentional. I have been held up with Mathematics tutorship and exams for my young school lads that I haven't been much here until today, better late than never huh? I guess so, so ai am glad to present my achievement number 2 task which is a discuss about the basic security on steem.
Steemit as a platform has many keys which are meant to be kept very safe in other to have a secured accout.The essence of this achievement 2 task is so that we know the functions of these various keys and also discuss ways the keys can be kept save. Below are the various keys present in the steemit platform
Your Tron Account Keys
There are 2 basic keys that are present in this section and they are listed below.
Your Stremit Private Keys
There are 4 basic keys that are present in this section and they are as follows
Private posting key
Private memo key
Private active key
Private owner key
Your Steemit Public Keys
There are also 4 basic keys that are present in this section and they are listed as follows.
Posting public
Memo public
Active public
Owner public
Note: Master Password is the seed key that is use to generate the document that contains the entire keys. It is more like the master key 😉It is advised that you don't share this key with anyone.
Also In your Tron account key, we have two different keys one of which is the public key which serves as the Tron address. The other is the Tron private key which is use to perform many activities in the Tron account. Some of the activities include transfer token, vote for Tron SRs, explore Tron ecology, freeze and unfreeze TRX and many more.
POSTING KEY
This key has many functionalities among which are publishing a post, Edit a post or comment, upvote and downvote, esteem content, fellow people, mute account etc.
ACTIVE KEY
The active keys are mostly used on monetary transactions. It is the key that enable you to perform some form of transaction in your wallet. The permission associated with this key include vote witness, transfer token, SBD conversion, power up or down,etc.
OWNER KEY
The Owner key is use to change other keys. The essence of this key is for you to recover your account or better still change the other keys. The permissions of this keys include resetting of owner, active and posting key, recover account, decline voting etc.
MEMO KEY
The memo key function is to encrypt or decrypt private messages which are sent using blockchain. The permission of the memo key include sending an encrypted message, viewing encrypted messages.
PUBLIC KEYS
Just as I have earlier outlined , you will notice that all the private keys have their equivalent public keys. Public keys are not required for login on the steemit.com
Question 1: Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit?
Yes, I have retrieved all the keys.
Question 2:Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?
Yes I do know most of these keys function like I have explained few of them above.
Question 3:How do you plan to keep your master password?
Since the master password is use to generate seed that will enable us generate the other entire keys, it is recommended that this key is kept safe. In my part have it saved in my external hard drive as well as printed in a hardcopy.
Question 4:Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?
Yes I do know how to transfer my steem to another steem user and below is the screenshot of the procedure.
Question 5:Do you know how to power up your STEEM?
Yes I know how to power up my steem and the procedure is seen on the screenshot below.
