what is Plagiarism

Plagiarism can be seen as an act of copying any kind of content without any permission from the original creator, be it ideas, works, materials from others. Plagiarism can be seen everywhere in this real world, when everyone is trying to copy from others to save their own time and energy they take other's work, ideas or content and share it as their own without even mentioning or any credit to the original creator, this is known as plagiarism. Even when, we see something interesting or beautiful post on Facebook Instagram on any other social media network and we download or copy that information and publish it on our own social media platforms without mentioning the original source, that is also plagiarism.

Types of Plagiarism

There are so many types of Plagiarism, let me describe it one by one.

Direct Plagiarism
:- It is simply copying another author's writing and use it to form your own note or pieces.

Accidental Plagiarism
:- As the name implies, this plagiarism is when someone's writing happens to coincidentally have the same ideas maybe with few different quotations marks.

Complete Plagiarism
:- This type of plagiarism is when someone copy entirely another person's writing or pieces words to words.

Complete Plagiarism
:- This refers to the type of plagiarism where the writer copy his or her own thoughts to form another new piece to avoid starting from the beginning.

Patchwork Plagiarism
:- It's simply the type of plagiarism where the writer interchange or twist words he or she copied from another writer or write-up.

Source-based Plagiarism
:- When a writer gives the credit to the author but while giving the source he created some mistakes in providing the link. It comes under Inaccurate authorship

How to avoid Plagiarism

There are lot of steps can be taken to avoid Plagiarism. Let's mention then one by one....

1:- Be committed and confident in doing your own work. Ask help if you’re not making a move.

2:- Understand and know how to use of proper quote paraphrasing.

3:- Be sure and 100% honest and accuracy.
Check for possible plagiarism using the
plagiarism checkers.

4:- Good practice on writing your own work all the time. And when u put any type of content from others, Make references on your sources honorably.

WHAT IS CITATION?

Citation is to get information from a source and letting your reader know where you've gotten the information from either through link etc. It's simply referencing the original source of the information and giving credit to the author. The act of citing images, charts, text and others create room for people to continually use their brain in having original content.

Example of citation

  1. I have downloaded a picture from Google. Now, I am going to provide the original link of source.

images (4).jpegsource

  1. Also, if I want to cite some copied phrase, it should be written under "" or putting > before the phrase and proper source should be provided.

For example-

"Plagiarism occurs when a writer uses someone else’s language, ideas, or material without acknowledging its source. It can be either intentional or unintentional. Plagiarism includes stealing and publication of others ideas and writings."source

OR

Plagiarism occurs when a writer uses someone else’s language, ideas, or material without acknowledging its source. It can be either intentional or unintentional. Plagiarism includes stealing and publication of others ideas and writings.source

conclusion

Plagiarism should be avoided and now I have learnt about it that how can I give proper cite to the source even when I use someone words, I'll give them due credits and mention them.

"I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them"
