I am using this time to write my achievement3 on my journey to becoming a pro. I thank everyone who have taken time off to go through my diaries and my previous achievements post.
The objective of achievement task 3 is to further acquaint myself of the following

  1. Have a thorough knowledge of brain proof concept.
  2. Getting to know how to produce original/quality content.
  3. Embracing the exisiting steem communiy etiquette .

I have come to know too, that I can post any thing on steem platform provided they are legal and complies with their terms of service. It is expected that i be creative in whatever writeup I post.

"PROOF OF BRAIN" CONCEPT

Steem provides a blockchain protocol for publicly accessible and immutable content, along with a fast and fee-less digital token (steem) which enables people to earn the currency by using their brain. This is what is referred to as "Proof of Brain".
Thus since people are rewarded by the blockchain for the post produced originally from their brain, it is therefore necessary to cite sources of any content in my posts that consists of other's works.
So whenever my work includes works, phrases, comments of others, I need to acknowledfe their work by citing the source. The aim is to lend credence to the originl authors and also make my work highly reliable.

How to Cite a Source

To be a professional blogger, it is not enough to simply note the source of a particular idea or comment, but a link, that will direct the readers to the original source of the content. When i have several sources used in my publication, i should be able to add all the sources of the several definitions used. This I will do, by adding the source after each seperate idea, puting the reference as close to it as possible to indicate its origin.
It may be difficult sometimes, to actually find out the source of our work, but it gives me that idea of satisfaction for work welldone. Why the satisfaction? One is that you know the your work and its quotes are correct. Two, you cannot be accused of plagiarism and three, it makes your blog look professional.

Plagiarism

According to Wikipedia, plagiarism is defined as the representation of another author's language, thought's, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work.
It can be said to be copying another's work or borrowing someone else's original ideas. Terms like stealing one's ideas, to use another's production without crediting the source, to commit literary theft and to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source. Thus, i can say, that plagiarism is an act of fraud..

The items below are all considered as plagiarism:

a. Presenting someone else's work as your own.
b. Copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit.
c. Failing to put a quotation in quotation marks.
d. Giving incorrect information about the source of a quotation.
e. Changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit.
f. Copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up a majority of your work, whether you give credit or not.

To avoid plagiarism implies not engaging any of the abovee mentioned acts.

In conclusion, plagiarism is a bad act, and all including I should desist from it.

I am super impressed with the effort you have put into putting this together @benton3. Most newcomers just put one or two examples in their posts and that's it. Yours really covers every major detail I can think of, pertaining to content etiquette here on steemit. Thank you for that.

The slight correction I want you to do is the source citation. You should visit the Achievement 3 task guidelines from the pinned post to learn how to use the proper markdowns for that.

Once you're done you may procede to achievement 4 here.
