Hi everyone, it's time to take up my Achievement 3, on Content protocol. In this post I want to discuss a very important content Protocol or content etiquette which is more about plagiarism. Among other things, I will provide a definition, it's various forms or types, some ways to Avoid Plagiarism in your writing and Consequences of Plagiarism.

What is Plagiarism?

What I understand or what I know about plagiarism is that, it is act of taking some one intellectual work or idea and claim it to be your own. While Wikipedia says "plagiarism is taking credit for someone else's writing as your own, including their language and ideas, without providing adequate credit".

Oxford Dictionary define it as act of plagiarizing something, something that has been plagiarized.

Different Types of Plagiarism

Self-Plagiarism: This is also known as auto-plagiarism. It is the act of repurposing or reusing original work and then publishing it elsewhere without proper attribution

Direct Phone: This is the word-for-word transcription of a section of someone else's work without attribution and without quotation marks

Mosaic Plagiarism: Mosaic plagiarism happens when a write-up is made up of borrowed content from a variety of sources without any form of citation giving credit to the different authors. they are reading with using any quotation or rephrasing the statement.

Accidental Plagiarism: This means plagiarizing the content unintentionally. It commonly occurs due to lack of proper citation or wrong citation, forgetting or neglecting to quote, or accidentally using the same phrase or similar combinations of words as given in the original. Copyleaks.com

Is Plagiarism A Crime?

In my own understanding I will say YES. reason is that you are taking someone ideas without giving credit to the owner. But legalzoom.com says although plagiarism is not a criminal or civil offense, plagiarism is illegal if it infringes an authors intellectual property right, including copyright or trademark. For example, the owner of a copyright can Sue a plagiarizer in federal court for coping violation.

Consequences of Plagiarism

There are so many consequences of plagiarism but I mention few according to

• Reputation impact
• Authority and Ranking penalties
• Deters your Audience or followers
• Potential legal and criminal Action.
