Achievement 2@beetees||Task: Basic security on steem

This post in fulfillment to the task given on basic security, shows my knowledge on how to protect my keys from third parties.

Upon creation of account with steemit, a master password was generated and subsequently a PDF was sent in for download which contains the different keys needed for operating my steemit account such as; the posting key, active key, owner key and memo key.

The Private Posting key: This key is used to log into apps such as steemit.com and perform social actions such as posting, commenting, voting, resteem and follow or mute other accounts.

Users should always log in with the posting key on a daily basis because keys are more likely to get compromised the more you use it, so a limited posting key exists to restrict the damage that a compromised key would cause.

Private Active Key: This key is meant for task like transferring funds, powerup/down transactions, converting steem dollars, updating profile deatails and placing a market order.

Private Owner Key: This key is used to reset all your other keys. It is a very powerful key. It is recommended to be kept offline at all times. It is used to recover compromised account within 30days.

Private Memo key: This key is used for encrypting and decrypting memos when transferring funds.

After reading the article by @kiwiscanfly on Understanding your steemit wallet, I understood more about the steemit wallet.

I got to know more difference between the steem, steem power and SBD.

STEEM
This is said to be liquid which means it is transferrable to another account or can be traded on the internal market or even powered up to steem power.

STEEM POWER
This is the locked up steem or in the words invested steem. It allows you comment and post. Steem locked up in this form helps account and influence growth.

SBD-STEEM BACKED DOLLARS
The SBD can be traded for steem on the internal market or transfer to another user.

Have you retrieved all your keys on steemit?

Answer
After the creating of my steem account, a PDF was sent for download which contains all my keys on steemit, therefore, yes, I have retrieved all my keys on steemit

Yes, the distinct explanation above will attest to my knowledge on the functions and restrictions of these keys.

Question 3
How do you plan to keep your master password?

Answer
It is recommended to store the master password offline, somewhere safe in case of hard drive failure or other calamities. Therefore I have decided to save it in my diary for easy access when needed.

Question 4
Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another team user account?

Answer
Yes, by clicking on the transfer button, insert the receiver's username, amount of steem to be sent, put in my private active keys and send.

Question 5
Do you know how to power up your STEEM?

Answer
Yes, by clicking on the drop down button box to find the power up command, click on power up, input the number of steem you want to power up, then click power up button.
