Achievement 3 by @bdeem1 Task : Content Etiquette

in Newcomers' Community2 years ago

Hello Steemians,

Greetings to all my friends and community members.I hope you are all going okay. Today I’ll be discussing on content etiquettes as we dive in to plagiarism

PLAGIARISM,

Plagiarism is when you pass off someone else's thoughts, words, or ideas as your own. Plagiarism is considered intellectual property theft and will not be accepted, whether you steal a text straight from someone else without giving them credit or paraphrase someone else's work without giving them credit. If you plagiarize your work or try to pass it off as your own, you will be held accountable.

Types of plagiarism,

Direct Plagiarism,

The word-for-word transcription of a piece of someone else's work without attribution or quotation marks is known as direct plagiarism. Plagiarism of someone else's work is unethical, academically dishonest, and punishable by disciplinary action.

Self-plagiarism,

Self-plagiarism happens when a student uploads his or her own past work, or parts of previous works, without first obtaining permission from all teachers involved. It would be improper, for example, to use a portion of a term paper you wrote in high school in a paper for a college course. Self-plagiarism also includes submitting the identical piece of work for multiple classes without first obtaining permission from both professors.

Mosaic Plagiarism,

Mosaic Plagiarism happens when a student borrows phrases from a source without quoting it, or finds synonyms for the author's language while maintaining the original's general structure and meaning. This type of paraphrase, sometimes known as "patch writing," is academically dishonest and punished, whether deliberate or not.

Accidental plagiarism,

When a person fails to cite their sources, misquotes their sources, or unintentionally paraphrases a source by utilizing similar terms, groups of words, and/or sentence structure without attribution, this is known as accidental plagiarism. When conducting research, students must learn how to properly cite their sources and take meticulous and accurate notes. (For further information, see the Avoiding Plagiarism page's Note-Taking section.) Plagiarism is not excused since the student did not intend to plagiarize. Accidental plagiarism is treated with the same seriousness as other forms of plagiarism and is subject to the same range of penalties.

A citation is a reference to a published or unpublished source that you consulted and obtained information from while writing your research paper. The way in which you document your sources depends on the writing style manual your professor wants you to use for the class [e.g., APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian, etc.].

Citation

A citation is a piece of information that tells the reader what other resources support the idea being discussed. Citations also help to verify, clarify, and organized academic arguments.
However, the most common method is to include a list of references at the end of the piece, making it easier for others to access and evaluate the source.

Conclusions

"I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit Community and will do my best to embrace them"
