WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?

Plagiarism means to steal someone else’s work and make it presentable as your own. Using other’s words, ideas or their findings where a proper citation is not used and showing the world that it's yours. It is considered to be a serious offence and one may face serious problems or punishments.

Points mentioned below are considered to be plagiarism:

• Stealing someone else’s ideas, concept
• Stealing someone else’s articles and
• Stealing someone else’s pictures or videos
• Not using quotation marks when quoting someone.

To clarify more, here are some types of plagiarism that are used:

• Complete Plagiarism: This is the most serious form of plagiarism where a person uses someone else’s work or research and presents it as their own.

• Direct Plagiarism: It is one of the kinds where a person uses the context and words of another person word to word without giving them credit or quoting them and presenting them as their own.

• Paraphrasing Plagiarism: This is considered to be the most commonly used where a person uses the idea or the research of an author and makes it presentable by changing the words or the phrases slightly but the concept remains the same.

• Accidental Plagiarism: This is the type where a person conducts this act in the state of negligence. Where he/she does not intend to copy but it happens accidentally.
