Achievement 3 : Content Etiquette by @ameerh

in Newcomers' Community3 years ago

Greetings and very good evening friends of steemit, I am very grateful for giving me the opportunity to continue advancing towards this achievement 3 called content protocol which is based on plagiarism, something that today we must avoid as people and as professionals.

Plagiarism is the action of copying or stealing an idea or image in an unauthorized way, secretly or accidentally and using them as their own, being committed by people who lack ingenuity and lack of ethics. When you commit plagiarism you are ruining the opportunity to learn more and to place your idea and develop the topic ruining yourself.

Many people are tempted to plagiarize because they want them to accept their work, because of the pressure they are subjected to and because they do not have ideas of their own to develop a good job.

Plagiarism has increased a lot through academic institutions as students got used to searching the Internet for the works they must do and copying them as if they were their own.

A person can also self-plagiarism by copying or duplicating a previous text or work from it.

There are many forms of plagiarism, among them are:

Cite ideas without quoting it in quotation marks or italics

Copy paragraphs without indicating the author of such material

Copy a writing and keep it the same, only changing some words for others

Copy several sentences from different paragraphs and place them in the same paragraph by passing them off as your own

Copy media files, such as photos, videos, and music

Plagiarism is a crime, it has not been something legal so you should not commit plagiarism in steemit or anywhere since it is to use the work of others taking advantage of the ideas and efforts of other people, this being unethical and professional, ruining the reputation of the person who commits plagiarism and even paying by legal means.

Plagiarism can be avoided by quoting and referencing other people's content, the content and idea of each one must be respected, so when using other people's paragraphs, quotation marks are used and their quote is placed, respecting the content of each one.

If you have taken several texts not your own, you must cite each of the sources and place it in each text, the same happens with the images that are taken that are not our property, the link of the source that was obtained is taken and the source is placed in each image.

Example

>India, officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country, and the most populous democracy in the world. [source](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India)

India, officially the Republic of India, is a country in South Asia. It is the seventh-largest country by area, the second-most populous country, and the most populous democracy in the world. source

Today there are many tools to combat plagiarism among them are

Edubirdie: it is a very good program since it contains a plagiarism detector software and corrabora that the texts are well cited, it is very easy to use.

Plagscan: it is very good at detecting plagiarism, it discovers very easily if a text is original or has been copied. After the analysis obtained, it sends reports of found results.

Plagius: fulfills the task of finding texts copied from websites, examines documents (PDF, WORLD, among others) to find possible plagiarism.

Among the different types of plagiarism we have:

Plagiarism based on the sources:

This is when they use fonts that are not real and incorrect, many choose to manufacture the fonts being this illegal.

Complete plagiarism:

It is a way of carrying out a robbery by taking a letter from another person and passing it off as one's own.

Direct plagiarism:

It is the most dishonest type of plagiarism because they copy everything from a paragraph of another author without putting attributions or quotation marks on it and make it pass as their own.

Self-plagiarism:

As I have explained above, a person can also make self-plagiarism with the simple fact of copying an old text which he had already used.

Intentional plagiarism:

This occurs when the person is aware that the work was not his idea and therefore chooses to pass it off as his own.

Accidental plagiarism:

This occurs when the person does not cite the sources from which the text comes correctly, confuses them with those of another author and omits the quotation marks since perhaps he lacks knowledge about plagiarism.

To do plagiarism is to deceive oneself since it discredits oneself as a person and as a professional and today there are many ways to detect plagiarism therefore it is something that the person should avoid and use their knowledge and skills to try to create something own and original without harming anyone.
