Hello friends, welcome today to my blog. I have been away for long now, but guess what, i am back to continue from where i stopped. All thanks to Bright introduced this platform to me and has been encouraging to keep on writing.

This post is about the basic security of steemit blockchain. Talking about security, it is the major aspect that every business mindset will have to consider before jumping in to any business, sorry i went in the aspect of business.

In steemit there are are basically 3 major types of security keys which are listed below.

• Posting key
• Active key
• Owner key

Here i will talk about the function of the above mentioned keys, they are very essential in this platform. Let me start below.

Posting Key:

Posting key is a type of key that is used for social networking, commenting, voting and posting. with this key you can carry all manna of activities in your account but you cannot use it to carry out activities in your wallet section. lets see the use of this key below.

• To Publish a post or comment
• To Edit a post or comment
• To Upvote or downvote
• To Resteem content
• To Follow people
• To Mute accounts

The above are what posting key is used for. The next one is:

Active Key:

This key is another important key in steem blockchain, with the help of this key you can assess your wallet, carry out any transaction in your wallet. If this key is been compromised to any third party then your tokens can be stolen.

With this key you can carry out any exchange within steem blockchain like the internal steem market, with out this key you cannot transact there. lets see the uses belowKey

• To Transfer tokens
• To Power STEEM up or down
• To SBD conversion
• To Vote for witnesses
• To Place an order on an exchange
• To Certain profile changes
• To Publish a Witness price feed
• To Create a new user

Owner Key

Owner key, i think is the most important of all because of its efficient functions, with owner key you can change other keys, it be use to regain assess to your account if it has been compromised, that is, if your private posting key and active key has been compromised, With owner key you can change them. lets see its functions below:

• To Reset Owner, Active, and Posting keys
• To Recover your account
• To Decline voting rights

Owner key, since it has these imperative functions, your are advised to store it offline.

Conclusion

As a business man or otherwise, considering the facts about security, it is very essential that you store all the keys in a safer place to avoid been seen by hackers, and also you should mind the way you login in to other platform using your active keys. So my advice is for you to store you keys offline so it cannot be compromised to hackers.
