Recently I have finished my Achievement 2 very well and it has also been verified so today I will discuss about Achievement 3 Task with you.

In the last few weeks I have studied a lot about plagiarism & I have got a lot of ideas about it. Now I will share it with you and hope you will like it.

So let's begin !!

Plagiarism

Plagiarism is presenting the ideas, thaughts or expressions or work of another person's as one's own original work.
Plagiarism is using or incorporating someone else's work into own work either willingly or unwillingly.
It includes all published or unpublished work, whether it's a manuscript, printed material, quotes, photos, videos or any other electronic data.

According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, to "plagiarize" means:

  • to steal and pass off (the ideas or words of another) as one's own
  • to use (another's production) without crediting the source
  • to commit literary theft
  • to present as new and original an idea or product derived from an existing source." Source

So finally we can say, plagiarism is copying or stealing other person's work as one's own without giving him due credit.

Plagiarism is crime and ethically and morally very wrong.

Types of Plagiarism

There are many types of plagiarism as.

  • Direct Plagiarism
  • Mosaic Plagiarism
  • Accidental plagiarism
  • Self-plagiarism
  • Paraphrasing plagiarism

I'm gonna explain about some of these.

What is Direct Plagiarism ?

  • It is the word to word copying of someone else’s work, without quotation marks and without giving any credit to him.

What is Mosaic Plagiarism ?

  • It occurs when a student borrows phrases from a source without using quotation marks, or uses synonyms in the author's language while keeping to the same general structure and meaning of the original.

What is Accidental Plagiarism ?

  • Accidental plagiarism occurs when a person either neglects to cite his sources, or unwillingly paraphrases a source by using similar words or sentence without any credit or citing any source.
Misquoting sources is also comes under accidental plagiarism.
It is also considered very serious offence and punished similar to other Plagiarism.
So we must learn how to correctly cite our sources.

What is Self-Plagiarism ?

  • Self-plagiarism occurs when someone uses his own previous work, or uses some parts of previous works without the permission of the professor or authority over him.

"To avoid plagiarism, you need to ensure that everything you write is in your own words. If you’re using someone else’s ideas, or quoting them for example, you need to ensure that you’ve properly cited and referenced the original author." Source

So guy's always post original content and cite proper sources of images or quotes etc you use.
Steemit is a very wonderful plateform.
If you really work hard and post original content, you will do great here.
