This is an act or the process whereby one takes another person’s idea, work or images and use them as his/her own work without any attempt of crediting/ informing them.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

1. Self-Plagiarism- This involves the using of ideas or passages from your own work submitted earlier. This type of plagiarism is not necessarily that really considered.
2. Global Plagiarism- This is also a type of plagiarism that involves a person taking the entire work of another person’s and uses it as his/her own work. It is a very serious type of plagiarism.
3. Verbatim Plagiarism- This is where a person copies a passage or a text directly without any citation.
4. Paraphrasing Plagiarism- It is another type of plagiarism which one rephrases the idea of another without citing the source. This must be avoided because it’s a very serious type Plagiarism.
5. Mosaic Plagiarism- This is a type of plagiarism where one copies ideas from different sources without citing the source.

EFFECTS OF PLAGIARISM

1. Leads to facing disciplinary committee for one’s crime or actions.
2. Leads to the drastic failure of the course or program the person is involved in.
3. It leads to indefinite suspension.
4. One ends up getting low grades in the course or program.

Citation is the act of making reference to a source and create the awareness of your readers, let them know that some ideas in your work came from different sources.

CONCLUSION
