Greetings to you all steemians

PLAGIARISM

source

is the use of someone’s idea or work as your own without the actual consent of the owner of the idea and using that idea in your work without acknowledgment. Plagiarism has become a major problem in this post pc era or this internet era and has to be really dealt with. People would rather copy one’s work than be innovative in their own works and this has made writings now starting to loose authenticity. Fortunately, steemit has taken the required measures to reduce the rate of plagiarism by creating an environment and enforcing the various disciplines to counter such acts and thanks to steemit plagiarism is being regulated.

They are types of Plagiarism which are: Direct plagiarism, Accidental plagiarisms, Self-plagiarism and many more. Plagiarism is an offensive act and I wll advice you not to indulge in such act.
Direct plagiarism is the word-for-word transcription of a section of someone else’s work, without attribution and without quotation marks. The deliberate plagiarism of someone else's work is unethical, academically dishonest, and grounds for disciplinary actions, including expulsion.source

Self-plagiarism occurs when a student submits his or her own previous work, or mixes parts of previous works, without permission from all professors involved. For example, it would be unacceptable to incorporate part of a term paper you wrote in high school into a paper assigned in a college course. Self-plagiarism also applies to submitting the same piece of work for assignments in different classes without previous permission from both professors.source

Accidental plagiarism occurs when a person neglects to cite their sources, or misquotes their sources, or unintentionally paraphrases a source by using similar words, groups of words, and/or sentence structure without attributionsource

They are also some consequencies on plaigiarism and some of which are:

  1. Legal reprecussions
  2. Monetary reprecussions
  3. Plagiarized research
  4. Destroyed academic reputation
  5. Destroys professional reputation

The following below are some ways to avoid plagiarism:

  1. Citing your source
  2. Including quotations
  3. Paraphrasing
  4. Presentation of your own idea

Citation refers to the referencing to a book, paper, or author in a scholarly work. The link under the image indicate the site I took the picture from and when someone hits the link it will automatically take you to the site it has been taken from. Citation is important to produce quality posts with original content.
With this few words, i hope i have been able to share a little enlightenment on what plagiarism really is.

I have read and understood the steemit etiquette on steemit community and will do my best to embrace them at the end of this post.

Thank you to everyone.
