Achievement 6 by @abanksforever: Understanding Curation and Community

in Newcomers' Community3 years ago

Hello Guys! This Achievement is very informative and I have really learnt quite a lot from it. Here's my Achievement 6 Post.

Do you understand how voting and curation work in steemit?

Steem has a fixed reward pool system that rewards users based on the posts they make, taking into consideration the quality of their posts and how genuine it is. Steemit users are rewarded when other users vote on their posts. 50% of the total reward is given to the author of the post and the other 50% is rewarded to the curators(ie. those who voted on the posts).

Steemians are able to vote on their fellow Steemians' posts too. The upvotes of every user varies from account to account. The voting power of accounts depend on the amount of Effective Steem Power(SP) of the account. The more the Effective Steem Power, the greater the voting power. Even though users can vote on any post, there is a limitation to it. Every account has an energy bar for voting, called the Voting Mana. Depending on the weight of your vote yo make on a post, your Voting Mana reduces. Only users with 500SP or more get the opportunity to choose the weight of their votes, the rest always cast the full weight of their votes.

Steemians also have the opportunity to downvote a post they don't dislike or feel is inappropriate. This downvote reduces the reward to be given on the post. The downvotes also has a Voting Mana and it also reduces as you downvote.

What happened if you vote a post before 5 minutes marks after posting?

When a post is upvoted in the space of the first 5 minutes, here's what happens.
When a user upvotes a post;

  • At the instant the post is made, 100% of the reward stays in the reward pool.
  • At the 1 minute mark, 20% of the reward goes to the curator and 80% stays in the reward pool.
  • At the 2 minute mark, 40% of the reward goes to the curator and 60% stays in the reward pool.
  • At the 3 minute mark, 60% of the reward goes to the curator and 40% stays in the reward pool.
  • At the 4 minute mark, 80% of the reward goes to the curator and 20% stays in the reward pool.
  • At the 5 minutes or later, 100% of the reward goes to the curator.

Who will you vote for Steem Witness ? and Why?

With regards to to witnesses, @justyy and @steemchiller have contibuted a great deal to making the Steemit Social media an easy-to-use one with the Tools they have created. Both are the creators of the steemyy.com and SteemWorld.com Tools respectively. I will vote for them to keep up with their good work.

Which community will you join in Steemit, and why?

There are a lot of communities to join on this social media. A lot of fun-filled communities and educative communities. Personally, I am a football fanatic, photography enthusiast, a beginner in cryptocurrency, a fitness guru and a music lover. Hence I would like to be members of communities that are about my interests, so I learn and see new things, and most importantly, have fun.
