He recibido una invitación para participar en este concurso que promueve @slon21veka, y que consiste en contar qué pensamos de nosotros mismos cuando nos miramos en el espejo.

El espejo, en la cultura occidental, simboliza la imaginación, pero también la autocontemplación. Por eso al mirarnos al espejo somos capaces de decir lo que vemos de nosotros mismos. Esta es mi participación:

The mirror, in Western culture, symbolizes imagination, but also self-contemplation. That is why when we look in the mirror we are able to say what we see of ourselves. This is my participation:

No me mires así,
no me reproches mis descuidos.
Recuerda ya no soy una niña de cinco años,
menos una adolescente de 17.
Tengo 48.
Tú lo sabes igual que yo.
Ya sé lo que me dirás:
Que me gusta disfrazarme tras el maquillaje,
Y ocultar mis canas con químicos de colores,
Tomarme fotos con filtros,
Y vestirme de negro para verme delgada
cuando en realidad tengo unas cuantas libras demás.
Escúchame, consciencia, no me apresures a hablar de lo espiritual,
deja que me detenga un poco en el físico.
El tiempo como los relojes de Dalí
han hecho mella en mi vida.
Pero no te alarmes, no ha sido para mal.

He tratado de ver la vida como un río
que corre por un cauce y luego se dispersa
hacia riachuelos interminables
para varar en el mar de las despedidas.
Mi cuerpo ha aprendido a dejarse llevar,
pocas veces pone resistencia.
Asumo al destino como un Oráculo de fuerzas positivas
que me aleja de lo malo,
gobierna mi esencia y mi ser,
y doblega los instintos de miseria humana.
En mi mirada hay rasgos de tristeza,
No es fácil ver partir a seres queridos.
Pero en mi voz hay fe inquebrantable.
No reniego ni de nada ni de nadie.
Amo la vida,
me amo,
Amo a la humanidad como es,
Me gusta sentirme bien conmigo misma,
soy pura intuición,
alegría de niña en el parque,
Ave que vuelve a su nido.
Nunca huiré de mí,
aunque a veces me extrañe a mí misma,
Me repondré con fuerza
para que mi imagen y yo
nos bebamos el mundo
agarradas de las manos.

Do not look at me like that,
do not blame me for my carelessness.
