There is a common belief than a man and woman can never be friend, they turn into lover.

However, I do not agree with that.

Firstly, friendship can happen between people from any age and any gender. All that matter in friendship is comfort between each other, respect for each other and care for each other. And all these things doesn't depend between the gender.

So, if there is care for each other, there is comfort in conversation between each other, and there is respect for each other - people can be good friend. No matter if their gender are same or opposite.

We all have seen boys are sharing their feelings and problems with their mom, girls are sharing the problem with their dad - aren't these friendship? Aren't they from opposite gender?

Rather, I would say, a friend from the opposite gender can share different perspective of problems as well as different perspective of life - which are generally absent from friends of same gender.

If a person has friend from opposite gender, the different misconception about the opposite gender is corrected by that friend.

Personally, my best friend is a lady - Joyee. We have done our graduation from the same college. She is married now and lives in USA. However, we meet everyday when she comes in India during her vacation.
