TOPIC OF THE WEEK NO. 41//BATHING CUSTOMS OF MY PEOPLE

Hello Steemians, I hope your all doing well. Special thanks to @slon21veka for this contest.

We all bathe at least twice a day in order for our bodies to remain clean. After a long day's work, our bodies cry out for a splash of water to wash away all the dirt and sweat and bring in the freshness. We all have our cultures which tend to vary in all aspects including bathing customs.

I am a Ugandan and one of our bathing customs is bathing a new born with a combination of herbs. This mixtire of herbs is called "Kyogelo" in the local language. Below is an illustration.

This custom was mostly used by people in central Uganda but as time eroded, it was adopted by many other tribes all over the country. According to our grandparents, the kyogela bath is believed to be a blessing, gives the child a good looking skin and immunizee them from both physical and spiritual diseases. Most times, when you find a girl who is calm and obedient, people will say that she was bathed with Kyogelo. Another example is when a family is fortunate to have it's daughters married to rich men who are well behaved. Often one will say that those girls are blessed because they were bathed with Kyogelo.

Now generally, in Uganda, it is considered that one has properly bathed only if they scrab their bodies using a sponge. When you bathe without the use of a sponge, it is not considered actual bathing. It is simply wasting water and time🤣🤣🤣.

One other thing about bathing customs that I know of is that; in my tribe, once a woman gets married, she is expected to always prepare her husband's bath. It is not right for a man to prepare the bath himself when he has a wife...as it will only mean that she was not raised right and thus bring shame to her mother and aunties.

I invite @faith-diana and @kandegye to participate.

Интересный обычай с Кёгело!
И ещё понравился обычай с подготовкой ванны для мужа)
Кстати, а что же туда нужно готовить?

It is basically a combination of local herbs.
