Graffiti Of My City No. 42 - Old Man Is Not Alone

Last week I shared a street art I found painted on a pillar or post just outside Gaisano Mall. It is one of the biggest malls in our city, Davao City, Philippines. Located along J. P. Laurel Avenue in the Bajada district, Gaisano Mall boasts of being one of the most complete one-stop shopping and entertainment centers. It has 7 movie theatres, a supermarket, a department store occupying 2 floors of the 5 storey complex, retail outlets of almost all name brands from shoes to jewelries to computers and cell phones to fast food chains like McDonalds, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Jollibee and Shakey's Pizza.

The street art I shared last week is on one of three pillars found just outside the main entrance of the mall. This week I will share with you the paintings on the second pillar.

It is a painting of an old man walking with a cane perhaps to enter the mall to rest and have a bite to eat. On the upper portion of the pillar are painted with black birds. See photo below.

Also from the photo above you can see the entrance / exit of the mall. It is here also that shoppers wait for their jeepney ride to wherever they are going to. Jeepneys are the main mode of mass public transportation. In the photo below this man is waiting for his ride and puts one of his hands on the pillar, oblivious of the old man walking beside him. He is carrying a plastic bag of probably groceries to bring home to his family.
