Graffiti Of My City No.38 - Home Sweet Home

Hello everyone. We welcome No.38 of this exciting contest, Graffiti Of My City, hosted by @slon21veka. Check out the contest rules here to know more about this. You are invited to join with your friends.

I continue to feature the street paintings on the long wall of the Kapitan Tomas Monteverde Elementary School along Ponciano Reyes Street here in our city, Davao City, Philippines. For the past 7 weeks I have been giving installments of the street art on this wall which were painted by elementary or grade school children. Not much artistic presentation but still interesting as they portray how kids imagine the daily aspects of life in our country. For this installment, I will show you the children's interpretation of houses.

As you know, shelter is one of the basic needs of man and as such having a house or a roof over the head is a very important and vital need for the people. This probably explains why the kids painted so many houses along the wall. See below.

These are houses or homes that are commonly found in the city. But in the provinces, some of the houses are not made of concrete. They are made out of bamboos and nipa palms (mangrove palms) and can be moved about when the family transfers to a different location. This is done by men lifting the whole house and walking towards the new location. See below.

And that ends the 8th installment of the street paintings of this long wall. Stay tuned for more of this in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, please stay safe and let me greet you all a very Happy New Year!
