SEC-S17W1: "Season of My Country"

in Steem For Bangladesh8 months ago

We are been blessed with different seasons which are all important to mankind, just as the rainy season is for farming it is how the dry season is for harvesting farm products. Here in this post, I have discussed the type of season in Nigeria.

How many seasons are in your country? Which one is your favorite and why?

I am a Nigerian by birth and origin. In Nigeria we are been blessed with two types of seasons which are wet season and the dry season. The wet season is also called the rainy season which is a season of the year that begins from April to October, whereas the dry season is the season that begins from November to March.

The rainy (wet) season is the season in Nigeria that is influenced by rainfall which is also seen as the season of farming. However, during the rainy season, some parts of Nigeria experience very high rainfall which sometimes results in flooding and droughts, erosion, and spoiling of crops.

As for the dry season, it is the season that is influenced by harmattan and wind. In the dry season, Nigerians experience the hotness of the weather which causes people to begin feeling the heat, and headaches, due to the high temperature of the weather.

If there was one season you wanted to skip forever, which one would it be? Explain the reason.

The two seasons that Nigeria is been blessed with are very important for Nigerians because when it is time for the rainy season Nigerians would be praying for the dry season to come. However, to some extent, I still prefer the rainy (wet) season over the dry season, as it is the season when things are much cheaper in the market.

The wet season is a season of farming, and eating fresh products such as vegetables, fruits, etc. It is a season where sickness is reduced, because of how cold cold weather used to be, which is also a season where I do get to sleep very well. With all that I have experienced in the rainy (wet) season, it is the dry season that I would skip forever if I wanted to skip a season in Nigeria.

Describe a traditional or special activity that people in your country do during a particular season.

The rainy (wet) season is the season in Nigeria where we get to see different traditional and special activities taking place in the country. It is a season of farming and celebration.

The key traditional activity that is done during the rainy season in Nigeria is the celebration of the new yam festival which begins from August down to November. It is usually observed traditionally every tribe in Nigeria has their points of celebrating their new yam festival.

Aside from the celebration of the new yam festival which is done traditionally, what Nigerians engage themselves in during the rainy season is farming as it is a season of farming. During the farming period, you will see people going to their farms and returning home late.

Are there any special foods or drinks that people in your country enjoy most during certain seasons? If so, what is it and why?

Vegetable leaf, corn, (maize), and yam are the special foods that people in Nigeria enjoy during the rainy season. Also as for drink, it is palm wine that people in rural communities enjoy the most.

During the rainy season, there is a surplus of food and drinks in Nigeria. It is a season where commodities in the market are sold at a cheaper price. The reason why food is much cheaper and surplus in Nigeria during the rainy is because of how fertile the soil is during the season.

You're a real Nigerian. I love your points of view and the choice between the rainy and dry season. You love the rainy season because things are always cheap in the market, you're right because during the dry season that was around November and December, i bargained on a price of waterleaf everyday in the market because it was scarce, but now is no more because rainy season is approaching, starting to bring and rain its fortune for mankind.

Thank you for the invite.
Well, I don't think I love the raining season in Nigeria because of our kind of road but guess what? I sure love the new yam festival. I enjoyed the one of last year. Best wishes in your entry.

Hello my friend, you have shared extensively the major seasons in the country, highlighting each with it's special features. You have shared that you love the rainy season over the dry season because things get cheaper in the market and life is quite easier during the rainy period. I love your article and the way it is well arranged. Success in the challenge my dear friend

Greetings dear @josepha
Each season has its own characteristics and each season is important to us. It is interesting to learn about Nigeria's two distinct seasons and their impact on daily life. While both seasons have their significance, your preference for monsoons is obvious because of its cultivation convenience, affordability of produce and overall comfort. The celebration of the New Yam festival and the abundance of agricultural activities during the rainy season demonstrate Nigeria's cultural richness. Additionally, the availability of specialty foods such as vegetable leaves, corn and yams along with beverages such as palm wine highlight the culinary delights enjoyed during this time.

  • Good bro you have explained both the seasons very well not even one of the seasons has been skipped because each season is very important in our life you have explained the characteristics of both keeping in mind the same importance.Of course we cannot depend on any one season as it is our environmental matter.

In the dry season, Nigerians experience the hotness of the weather which causes people to begin feeling the heat, and headaches, due to the high temperature of the weather.

  • rainy season, there is a surplus of food and drinks in Nigeria. It is a season where commodities in the market are sold at a cheaper price.

Yes in Nigeria, we are blessed with two distinct seasons which are the rainy season and the dry season. The rainy season, from range April to October, which is suitable for farming and agriculture, while the dry season, from November to March, is a time for harvesting and gathering crops. In Nigeria, the rainy season is a time of abundance, with fresh produce like vegetables, fruits, and yams being enjoyed by many. Traditional activities during this season include the celebration of the new yam festival, a cultural event observed across different tribes in the country.
