Greetings dear friends,
How are you all my friends? I hope all of you are well by the grace of Almighty Allah. Alhamdulillah I am also well by the grace of Allah. I am also well by God's grace and your love. Today I am here with a new educational chapter where I will introduce my workplace ETP plant. I will present step by step how this plant works and how it is managed etc.

The topic I discussed in Part-1 is "Three types of water treatment plants in Bangladesh." The things I will discuss today in my second part is how the RAW Wastewater comes to the ETP plant and how the solid waste elements is removed from the water through Screening process and many more things. So let's start.

RAW Waste Water

Before treating the RAW Wastewater , we need to know where the rest of the wastewater comes from. Our garment industry has wtp from which clean water is extracted from underground and purified and used for fabric dyeing. Fabric dyeing is done at few places in our factory. And in all these places different kinds of chemicals are used in water for cleaning and dyeing clothes. The water then turns into wastewater and flows through the drain to our ETP plant. There are various types of harmful organic and inorganic substances in this water which are very harmful to creature and environment.

Here I have shared a picture showing RAW Wastewater entering the ETP plant through the drain. The place can be called the entrance of wastewater. And here we employ a cleaning worker who picks up diffrent kind of things like Cloth, paper, plastic, wood pieces etc from here every day. There is a large net to catch these filth.

Screening Process

Screening is the primary step in wastewater treatment. All small, large or medium sized solid waste that come out during cloth dyeing are extracted through this screening. Two screenings are used in our ETP plant and they are down to the bottom of the water. We can control these two screening machines from our control room and we set the time on it.

If the screening continues continuously, it is not possible to remove the wastes in the water properly. So screening is set to run every two minutes and off for two minutes to allow the waste to accumulate. And it works automatically and we who are on duty sometimes observe that the machine is running properly.

In the screening machine, the waste riser is like a stair step where the waste accumulates and it slowly rises up and back to the waste accumulation point. It goes on like this 24 hours a day. And the waste accumulated here is filled in sacks by the cleaning staff employed at the etp plant every day and it is later discharged to a safe place in a garbage truck.
