Explain that water is the only life.

Water is a liquid substance that doesn't have colour, it doesn't smell, it has no test and maintains life when taken. It is naturally found in our environment and useful for man, other living things and plants as well. All living things need water for survival.
For man, water is used in drinking, cooking, bathing, and for other household chores. Man needs water in his body for hydration and digestion of food.
For animals, water assists in the process of respiration and also regulates temperature. Some of the animals like fish have water as their habitat.
Plants need water to grow and also aid in photosynthesis.
Therefore, there is no life without water.

Do you think drinking water is decreasing day by day?

I cannot categorically say that drinking water is decreasing day by day but I can say that access to clean water is decreasing day by day. This is because many industrial facilities today directly discharge their waste into rivers, lakes and oceans which in turn affect man, plants and aquatic life.
Some communities especially in Nigeria don't have access to clean water due to mining activities and industries. No source of clean water and no supply of clean water by the government. As such, individuals drink contaminated water and some substitute water with soda (carbonated water).

What steps can we take to conserve drinking water and prevent wastage?

Steps that can be taken to conserve drinking water are:

• Ensuring that all leakages in pipes that supply water are fixed.
• Children should not be allowed to play with water taps or fetch water without supervision.
• water should not be used unnecessarily.
• Seminars and papers can be presented in our school's, radio stations, television etc on water conservation.
• we should not use water directly from the tap to wash our hands, rinse plates or do certain activities.

Where can we get water for drinking when the groundwater is depleted?

When the groundwater is depleted, the planet Earth will run into trouble because:

• Some communities or cities depend completely on groundwater for drinking.
• Groundwater helps to replenish and maintain levels of surface water such as rivers, lakes, and streams. This implies that levels of rivers, lakes and streams will reduce and eventually dry up when the groundwater depleted.
