Greetings dear readers

I can say that for me there are many unforgettable days taking into account the various facets that I have been able to carry out throughout my life. However, today I am going to share with you the day of my undergraduate graduation. You might ask, why remember that day as an unforgettable day? It is for that reason that I am going to share the story that preceded that day of my undergraduate graduation even though I am a two-time postgraduate.

I am going to share with you what happened at the end of June 1992. It was the day I was holding the preparatory meeting for my Degree Project, with my Tutor and one of the Juries. That day there was a situation that we could call a "supervening situation ". I was 15 weeks pregnant at the time. That day the meeting could not be completed because while I was doing the introduction I felt that everyone was watching me and I continued explaining until Professor Alfredo Rosas, my tutor, turned to me and asked me if I was feeling well. At that moment I realised that my trousers were full of something flowing out of me. At that moment everything was a lot of confusion. My colleague and great friend Beatriz Altuve was there and she immediately went to find the doctor on duty at the university's Medical Service. I studied as an undergraduate at the Simón Bolívar University. I can assure you that after that moment everything changed. The diagnosis of the medical specialists who evaluated me was that I had suffered a threatened miscarriage. I spent seven and a half long months in absolute rest and was forbidden to do any activity that would cause me physical or mental fatigue. I was hospitalised again and again to protect the life of my child. I was hospitalised as a precautionary measure to have a caesarean section and while I was hospitalised there was a situation that could only be resolved with an emergency caesarean section because I was at risk of losing my life and that of my child. Fortunately, it was possible to perform the caesarean section, 2 February 1993, with an emergency in the operating theatres, due to a multiple collision on the motorway that crosses the city of Maracay. There were many unfortunate situations that I am not going to describe because the story would be too long. I will only tell you that my son and I were hospitalised for more than a month. It was a long 18 months before I was able to resume my academic activity. It was two months of locating documents and applying for my registration just to defend my Degree Project. In fact, a long time had already passed and although all the documentation supporting my state of health was endorsed by the Academic Vice-Rector's Office of the institution, it took a lot of paperwork and more paperwork to be able to carry out the Public Defence of my Degree Project in November 1993.

My graduation ceremony took place in February 1994. This day was unforgettable for me. We graduated as two chemists in a graduation of almost two hundred undergraduates. That was the beginning of my professional life and of my academic life, which together with my evolution as a spiritual being, as a woman of science and as a social being, has meant what I am today. I must tell you that I did everything I achieved out of love and conviction. I never doubted, I knew that my son would arrive healthy and I also knew that at some point I would continue with my academic work. With a number of financial and health problems. I never doubted that I would make it to the finish line. That day I enjoyed a great event in the Auditorium of the Simon Bolivar University that I will never forget. I was able to attend the Graduation Ceremony and for me it was great. I don't have any photographs of my undergraduate graduation; however, I have the memory of an Unforgettable Day.
