The cliff
Have you ever walked around with a broken zip at work?
You think you look fantastic dressed. You have onlookers and smile internally. No one says a word, although a few chuckle. You think: not everyone is as great, attractive and well-dressed as me, so be it and go your own way, seemingly unruffled, as the good-eyed lone wolf.
The office, according to many, is a boring place where not much happens. I can assure you that this workplace is no different from wildlife. There are those here who work as hard as the ant or the bee. There are queens and fat humbugs, frightened hares, jackals, coyotes and dirty rats and of course irritating mosquitoes that can't be kept away from you. They keep buzzing in your ear even when you don't want to hear them and give you a merciless prick when you don't expect it because they can drink your blood. The slow, mega-aged turtles are there even though they are rarely noticed, as are the sloths who get away with everything.
Friendship is based on survival and sometimes it is all too much. Too much of a good thing, the dramas, intrigues, the survival of the fittest. A cockerel, a peacock, a queen bee, the ant-folk who start the fight against the lion, ignoring the wallflower while the skunk keeps everyone at a distance and the group leader plays the dead oppossum. What you don't know won't hurt you?
The only difference with nature, the plant and animal world, is that there are lots of spectators who silently watch their fellow species being slaughtered.
Those who do not allow themselves to be dominated by Alpha, the swarm, the pack or the boar are chased away, killed or eaten. Not because there is a famine, but because it is possible.
The reason given is a broken zipper with a piece of shirt sticking out. Nobody said anything about it so it is nobody's fault that the lonely wolf was a depressed loser hiding under his hoodie who did not want to belong to the pack and jumped off a cliff to end his life.
Prompts: zipper, onlooker, wildlife, too much, lots of spectators, hoodie provided by @mariannewest
