National poet of Bangladesh Kobi Nazrul Islam said that, among the great things in the world, half are made by men and half are women. By this, we can get a point that, without women, men can’t be successful. There was a time when men treated women as a product, but time changes and nowadays, women are everywhere. They are in the space as scientist, doctor, engineer and even prime minister.

Today, I will also discuss about a woman who was a prime minister. How she passed her childhood, where she takes her education and at last how she maintains her duty as a prime minister.

I am talking about Indira Gandhi, the former prime minister of India. Jawaharlal Nehru, first prime minister of India was father of her. Her real name was Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi. Modern school of Delhi was the first institution of her. Then she got into St. Mary’s Convent Inter College. Then got into University of Oxford. There she meets with Feroze Gandhi. She falls in love with him. Then got marriage.

Why she is important for me?

After that, at year January 1966 to March 1977 she was the prime minister of India. That time, liberation war was happening at Bangladesh. Around 1 crore people leave Bangladesh, and they go to India. They stay in India as refugee. Prime minister Indira Gandhi not only give permission to those people but also give them free food. She makes transportation rent-free for them. Not only that, but also give war material to the people of Bangladesh. Free training system for Bangladeshi people in India as they can fight when back to Bangladesh. But those all services were not enough for us to get victory at liberation war at 1971. Then she declares Bangladesh as independent country at 6 December and send troops at Bangladesh. By this help of her Bangladeshi people along with Indian army got victory at 16 December.

Conclusion

As a Bangladeshi, I respect and loved Indira Gandhi so much because without her help as a prime minister of India it was near impossible to get victory at 1971. She was a great person for me and for every Bangladeshi.
