The Diary Game Season 3 (April 28, 2021)/My busy day!

in Steemit Philippines3 years ago (edited)

Good day everyone!

I wish all are healthy, happy and safe. This will be my second post if my self-intro will be counted. I am nervous because this will be a first for me to join a contest on writing. I have tried joining on a singing contest before but this is way more nerve wracking for me because the songs are all ready and prepared, you just have to deliver it the best way possible so you will win. But in writing, you have to create your own story by writing it from the heart so your audience will feel every word of it. So here goes my entry for the Diary game season 3.

I woke up early today around 5am because I have to do some early errands but before I left the house I prepared a light breakfast for hubby and me. I made some French toast because I have some wheat bread from the other day and it's a bit hard and tasteless. So, I decided to make it delightful. I added in some mashed bananas to make it more flavorful and divine. Voila! Magic, Hubby loved it! He is happy, I am Happy.

Then around past 6am. I drove to Subic Bay which is just a 15-minute drive from our house. Locals still refer it as "inside the base" even if it's not a US Naval base anymore. The administration governing Subic Bay is called Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority or SBMA.
Subic Bay, which lies around 100 kilometers northwest of Manila Bay, is an area around the size of Singapore. It was previously operated by the navies of Spain and the United States, and was one of the world's largest U.S. naval facilities.

Here is a picture of the old Spanish gate which I snapped while driving on my way to the hospital. It was built in 1885 when the Spanish Navy authorized the construction of the Arsenal de Olongapo, after King Alfonso XII of Spain issued a royal decree declaring Subic Bay as a naval port.

I needed to go to UniHealth-Baypointe Hospital and Medical Center so I can have my mother-in-law listed ahead of time for her doctor's appointment at 11am. You have to be personally present because they don't accept phone in listing. Baypointe is a privately owned hospital and is the only hospital inside SBMA with an international standards because they cater a lot of foreigners living inside and outside SBMA including locals as well.

After, my mission at Baypointe Hospital. I opted to go to the beach since it was just near and it was still early, only past 7a.m. . Tried to squeeze in some time for a quick meditation, my alone time, and to breath in fresh air and admire the scenery of the ocean and the mountains. I went to a park with the roundabout near Moon Bay Marina Light House Hotel.
I stayed there for a moment then snapped some photos. There was not a soul in sight. Just me and nature. So, I had this awesome view to myself. .

After my alone time, I headed back home and as I was driving felt like the place was deserted. I seldom see people on the streets even vehicles running. Mostly parked on the curb. Before the pandemic lots of people come here for an early exercise but now only quite a few. I saw these men walking their dogs.

Checkup time, 11 am came. Accompanied nanay, my mother-in-law for her check-up. She is 71 turning 72 this coming May 19th. Before the medical appointment to her nephrologist. Hospital staffs did some vitals check routine.
You can see the signs on the chairs. Physical distancing is really observed inside the hospital. There is a limit to how many patients will be checked in a day.

At the parking lot of the hospital. We saw the most beautiful golden shower tree. with yellows draping all around. Of course we have to have our selfie with this awesome tree.

On our way home, Nanay told me that she needed to get some groceries. So, we dropped by Royal Choices. It is one of the four Duty- Free shops here inside the freeport which is just near the hospital.

IMG20210427084703.jpg

You may wonder, What does duty-free mean and why is it cheaper to buy duty-free goods? Duty in the word duty-free means tax. So, basically it's duty or tax free. These are goods that you can buy without paying the tax that would normally be added to their price, often sold in airports, on planes, on freeports. Like here in SBMA since it is a Freeport zone.

What is a Freeport zone?
Freeports are secure customs zones located at ports where business can be carried out inside a country's land border, but where different customs rules apply. They can reduce administrative burdens and tariff controls, provide relief from duties and import taxes, and ease tax and planning regulations. These can be airports as well as maritime ports.

Inside the Duty-Free shops you can see plenty of imported goods. Usually Balikbayans love buying chocolates as pasalubong. Nanay bought some cereals for her grand daughter and some other stuff as well. Me, I bought red rice where you can buy it per kilo which is cheaper compared to the packed imported ones. There are a lot of imported canned goods even meats and frozen foods. Like this chiller filled with Italian, Hungarian, American sausages, Salami's etc. This shop is complete from food to clothes to appliances. They have it all.
They sell local products as well. The imported goods are in dollar price. When you pay everything is in dollar then it will be converted to peso using the day's prevailing dollar rate.

After we did our groceries, We headed back home and because it was very hot outside. I made some banana shakes for our refreshment. Made two flavors, one strawberry banana and chocolate banana milk shakes.

After preparing and giving the refreshments to my boys. I assisted hubby at his workshop because he was doing some renovations. Did some welding works. Handing the materials, tools and equipment needed for his welding. In between I had to load some laundry. Cleaning and sweeping our backyard. We finished just in time before dinner. I was exhausted from the days events that I just cooked a simple dinner.

Around past 9pm, I did another labor of love to my mother-in-law. I gave her a massage to sooth her aching legs and back. I do this every other day to help her relax and have a good night sleep. She doesn't have anyone to do it for her because our family and her youngest son are the only one's here in the Philippines. Three of her children are in the states so the task of watching over her and taking care of her is on our shoulders (hubby and myself). We love her dearly so it's okay to do things that can make her happy. I did not take any pictures because it is a bit private and my mother-in-law is a shy type.

That's it folks for my busy day. I hope you find my busy day entertaining and somewhat educational along the way.

I like duty-free part. Haha i miss going to the grocery store. Hindi na ako napasok ng grocery store mula noong lockdown.. Si Hubby nalng.

I've been to Subic once during our field trip way back in College. Very well explained ang mga details ng mga places na pinuntahan mo sis. Marami ako na learn.

Nanay is blessed to have you and your hubby. Thank you for sharing your day.

Thank you so much sis. I am glad that you loved my post. Nanay was so grateful that she was able to go out and visit the Duty Free because we don't let her out as well. It just so happens that it's her medical check-up so she ceased the opportunity...... hahaha.

Thank you, We need to take care of our elderly because if not for them we wouldn't be here.
