Hello Friends,

Am glad to be participating on the third phase of the engagement challenge, as this initiative has really promoted interactions among steemians and the communities. I must commend that the Steem India community have organised a very interesting and educative contest for us this week, titled "a letter to your five-year-old self, telling him/her what you have learned so far." Below is a letter to my 5 year old self.

To my 5 year old self, this letter is for you

As I put down my pen to write this letter, I just couldn't help but smile at the rapid rifling of beautiful memories flowing through my head. Childhood was really fun and easy. I miss the good old days when I had no worries or responsibilities, all I did was to go outside with friends, play, go to school, and live my life as if tomorrow won't come (I think these were the best moments of my life).

As you can see the picture above is very old, and for the records, that's me 17 years ago, when I was still 5🥰. When I was younger, I had always wished to grow up faster, so that I can experience more about life, but now am grown-up, and I wish to be younger again, oh what a mystery🤔:-)

So far through the journey of my life, I have learnt so much both mentally, spiritually, physically and emotionally. Infact, if I had known what I know now many years ago, I would have been a genius.
I initially taught adulthood was as fun as childhood, infact I taught being big is a guarantee to just get money💰 and enjoy your life. But now I realize that we must work very hard before we get our daily breads.

I have discovered that being independent and responsible for your own well-being are the major challenges facing an adult man/woman. I started experiencing how stressful life could be when I was in high school, because I attended a boarding school far from my parents, and I was left with the responsibilities of taking good care of myself at a young age of 10.

Despite the fact that I had the love for Computer related concepts, I still didn't realize what I wanted in life, as I was making wrong career choices. I remember telling myself that when I grow up I would become a Pilot😅, and my aim was to travel round the world and explore new places. I was working towards achieving this dream by trying to get into the Nigerian Airforce, but I wasn't enlisted. That was when I realized that my calling and focus was related Computer. I then proceeded to seek for admission into the Federal University of Technology FUTO Owerri Nigeria, where I am now currently studying Computer Science.

So far, what I have learnt in summary is that "life is not as easy as I taught it was when I was 5 years of age", and as I grew older I get more worried about the future and my responsibilities as an adult. Everyday I work towards achieving a better future for myself and my family.
Along this journey, I have meet good and wonderful friends, and I have equally lost lots of friends too. Alot of friends would want you to change your ways of life and fit into theirs, but it's always advisable to be your real self, because that's what makes you unique from any other person. Peer pressure is something that you must have to deal with, I hope you remain contented with what you have and focus on the better future.

One of the greatest attribute which I would love you my 5 year old to retain is that Curiosity and Excitement I had from birth, as it has lead me to lots of explorations and discoveries into the world today. This curiosity and excitement has helped me to become a better and fulfilled person, and I would forever be grateful to God for guiding my steps towards retaining that attribute.
Although the road isn't as easy as you think, I know with dedication, respect and self-control, you will pull through all the challenges of life.

Best wishes my smallie

Conclusion

It has never been easy, and with my observations through out the years, I have come to realize that the older we get, the more worried we become about the future and our responsibilities as adults. Life is a mysterious journey, and as walk through, it's important that we explore/experience every moment of it without being afraid of what tomorrow may bring.
Much thanks to thanks to @steemindiaa and the entire Steem India team for organizing such an interesting and educative contest.

Wow! How do you still manage to get hold of this old photo of you baffles me and I love it.

It has never been easy, and with my observations through out the years, I have come to realize that the older we get, the more worried we become about the future and our responsibilities as adults.

As we grow older, we get carried away with responsibilities, thus the insecurities and worries. But, with said and done, we will be alright

😅😅 my old pictures are really special to me and I love keeping them safe. It reminds me of the good old days when I had no worries about the things of life.l, as well as any responsibilities. Thanks for your time here, I really appreciate ❤️.

We never stop learning, to stop learning is like literally quitting on life itself. I like the way you dropped a couple of advise for your younger self.
You were wise enough to also give clues on what you would want accomplished, that's a brilliant reminder too.
