We celebrate World Cancer Day on 4 February every year to raise awareness of cancer and to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment1 World Cancer Day is led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), which is a global organization that represents all cancer types and supports the goals of the World Cancer Declaration

World Cancer Day aims to reduce the illness and death caused by cancer, and to inspire action for a cancer-free future

World Cancer Day also offers various ways for people to get involved and show their support for those affected by cancer.
Some of these include signing a call to action, donating to cancer research, sharing personal stories, and participating in activities and events around the world

personal commitment and collective action to fight cancer.
It encourages everyone to make a pledge to do something that can reduce the impact of cancer on themselves, their loved ones, and their communities

The theme also reflects the idea that everyone has a role to play in preventing and treating cancer, and that no one should be left behind.
By saying “I’m and I will”, we acknowledge our current situation and our future potential, and we express our determination to make a positive change

Some examples of pledges that people can make under the theme of “I’m and I will” are:

• I’m a survivor and I will share my story.

• I’m a doctor and I will provide quality care to my patients.

• I’m a teacher and I will educate my students about cancer prevention.

• I’m a researcher and I will pursue new discoveries.

• I’m a citizen and I will support cancer policies and programs

There are many stories of people who have faced cancer with resilience and hope.
One of them is Khan zaman khan, who was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer called Cancer of Unknown Primary (CUP).
This means that the origin of his cancer could not be identified, making it harder to treat

Khan zaman khan thought his symptoms were caused by a pulled muscle, but he soon learned that he had a large tumor in his chest.
He was told that he had only a few months to live, and that chemotherapy and radiation would not help him.
He decided to seek a second opinion at MD Anderson, where he enrolled in a clinical trial that tested a new drug combination

The clinical trial was a success for Khan zaman khan .
His tumor shrank by more than half, and he was able to resume his normal activities. He also found support from his family, friends, and fellow patients.
He says that his faith and positive attitude helped him cope with his cancer.
He is grateful for the opportunity to participate in the clinical trial, and hopes that his story will inspire others to never give up

The lesson that I learn from Khan zaman khan story is that cancer is not a death sentence, and that there is always hope for new treatments and cures.
I also learn that resilience is not only about surviving, but also about living fully and joyfully.
I admire Khan zaman khan courage and optimism, and I wish him and all cancer patients the best.

There are many stories of people who have experienced or witnessed small acts of kindness that made a significant impact on someone affected by cancer or their family.

A woman named Shazia was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to undergo chemotherapy.
She was worried about losing her hair and feeling unattractive.
Her husband, Ahsannullah , decided to surprise her with a special gift.
He shaved his own head and bought matching hats for them to wear.
He also wrote her a love letter, telling her how beautiful she was and how much he admired her strength.
He gave her the gift on Valentine’s Day, and she was moved to tears.
She said that his act of kindness made her feel loved and supported, and gave her the courage to face her treatment

Cancer is a major public health problem that affects millions of people worldwide It is also a preventable and treatable disease, if detected early and managed effectively That is why raising awareness of cancer is so important, as it can help people to reduce their risk factors, recognize the signs and symptoms, and seek timely medical care
