Steemit Engagement Challenge / S13W1 - "Health and our Environment"
My understanding of global health is that it is about caring for the health and well-being of everyone in the world. I envision a world where everyone, regardless of where they come from, has access to the essentials - food, water, shelter, good health, and education. That is the essence of global health. It is like a huge puzzle where each piece is a person, and when one piece is missing or damaged (like when people lack clean water or food), the whole picture is incomplete.
We have all witnessed how diseases like COVID-19 do not obey borders. And it is not only about disease - when people cannot achieve their full potential because of poor health, we all suffer. I think we all need to acknowledge how interdependent we are. If we collaborate, we can give global health the support it needs, creating a healthier future for all. So, for me, global health means everyone, everywhere should be healthy.
Among the five points you have mentioned in the announcement post for this writing contest, I think the most important is “Making health care accessible to everyone”. This is because if people do not have access to basic healthcare, they become vulnerable to diseases.
If access to hospitals or doctors is difficult in some areas, the outcomes for people’s health can be disastrous. Diseases can worsen quickly. This prevents them from pursuing their work and life goals, adding to their troubles.
In crisis situations, caused by wars or disasters, people need urgent medical help. But beyond these crises, EVERYONE should have regular access to basic healthcare. Setting up small clinics or hospitals in cities and villages, offering FREE treatment for common ailments, is essential. There should be on-site nurses and health workers. And if necessary, patients should be transferred to larger medical facilities. This is crucial for every country, whether rich or poor.
Other points like vaccines, medicines, food, and health workers are certainly important. However, the first and foremost priority should be ensuring that every person can access healthcare easily. Without this base, improving public health remains a problem. Therefore, in my opinion, making healthcare accessible stands out as the most vital point for global health.
To me, the least important among the mentioned points is “Providing health care to nations in crisis”.
Of course, when a country faces a crisis due to war or disaster, its people need medical assistance urgently. But it is more important that, like other countries, its citizens always have access to basic healthcare.
Often, when a country is torn by civil wars or disasters, other countries provide aid. Relief and medical camps are established. But once things calm down, the same old problems resurface.
So, what matters most is that EVERYTIME, each country ensures its people have access to basic healthcare, whether in crisis or not. If the health of the general population is maintained regularly, even in times of crisis, they would be better off.
If I were to add another point, it'd be "Focusing on Mental Health". Mental health is often overlooked in today’s society.
Many think that only physical health counts, but mental well-being is equally important. If one’s mind is not calm, living life fully becomes difficult.
People everywhere struggle with depression and other mental health problems. Daily stress and pressures are increasing mental disorders. Many require relaxation methods and professional help. But this need is often ignored until one’s mental health worsens severely.
I would support mental health education in schools and colleges. The media should also emphasize its significance. People should be motivated to express their emotions and seek advice from professionals when necessary. Without prompt attention to mental health, individuals could fall into serious conditions like depression. By enhancing mental health, we can also improve global health.
We should try building hospital in the place we are living to improve the health of humans around us. Where there is no doctors, and hospitals the life's of people may be at risk due to some certain disease. Good Luck on the contest
Hello friend....
Global Health does not only rely on the fact that it is about the health of global Nations and communities it also affect the response of the health organisations to outbreak of diseases and crisis in most Nations.
Making Healthcare accessible to everyone as one of the most important points and it is good you pointed it out in your publication. When there is quality accessibility of Healthcare given, the vulnerability of people to diseases and health challenges will reduce drastically.....
Making health care available to nation in crisis is a good point also, well you made that your least important point due to your mentioned reasons....
Our mental health is a great piece of our health, we need to keep it tight and create a good narrative on how to improve it..
Thanks for sharing and good luck with the challenge...
