Health Matters (07); Genes and Genetics

in Healthy Steem3 months ago

Genes and genetics have a significant impact on how we develop. It shapes us from the manner we take to our chances of inheriting certain health conditions. Genes are like small instructions inside our cells passed down from our parents. They decide many things about us, such as our hair color, eye color, and even how tall we might grow.

What makes you unique, like having your mom's eyes or your dad's smile?

The genes we inherit from our parents may cause us to have our mother's eyes or our father's smile. We get half of our DNA from our mother and half from our father. These genes mix to create our special set of characteristics. Even siblings may appear different because each child receives a particular combination of genes from their parents, making each person unique.

Why do some diseases run in families, like diabetes or heart conditions?

Some diseases, such as diabetes and heart disease, can run in families due to genetic factors. If a parent has certain health issues, there is more chance that they will pass on genes that increase the risk of developing that condition to their children. The condition is affected not just by genetics, but also by lifestyle and environment. For example, even if a family has a history of disease, they can lower their risk by eating well and exercising.

How do genes decide things like hair color, eye color, or even how tall you'll be?

Genetics is like a set of instructions for our bodies. They tell our cells how to build proteins, and this will affect how we look and function in our bodies. For example, the color of the eyes is determined by the type and amount of pigment in the iris. Similarly, numerous genetics influence our height, with each contributing a small amount to how tall you will become. That is why predicting height is difficult since it takes more than just looking at your parents' heights.

Have you heard about DNA testing? how can it reveal your ancestry or health risks?

In recent years, DNA testing has become more popular. DNA tests can reveal a lot about our ancestors, including their history, where they came from, and which ethnic group we are connected to. It is because our DNA contains markers found in many different populations around the world. Not only that DNA can reveal health risks also. For example, it can tell us whether we are more likely to develop certain genetic conditions. This will assist us in preventing that type of issue.

Thank you very much for inviting me mam, I read your post carefully and I liked your post very much. You have said it absolutely right that,
even if someone in the family has a history of the disease, they can reduce their risk by eating well and exercising.❤️

Genetics research is a very beautiful and interesting field in science, although sometimes I feel worried about the direction some studies take.

It was a pleasure to read your observations regarding how genetic shapes the way we physically are or can be depending on other factors.

Thank you very much for the invitation.
I wish you success

I embrace your feedback with warm heart.

Oooo I guess, I have similarities with my father on appearance. This is actually very deep and complex subject area, and there's a very same understanding with me. Anyway you have done a pretty decent job!!
