* If you understand these core ideas, you will be well on your way to good health.
  • Since good health comes from a healthy lifestyle, we can only hope to reach our personal health potential through consistent, deliberate effort.

  • To maintain their health, our bodies require everything from us.

  • At the same time, we must reduce or altogether avoid environmental stresses and our own damaging actions that can impair our health.

  • Hereditary factors significantly influence the potential for a person's health.

  • Unfortunately, neither our innate constitution nor the long-term effects of our prior lifestyle choices can be changed.
    However, there are four critical aspects of healthy living that we influence.

  • We use the acronym DEAP, which is derived from their first letters, to help us recall them.
    For each of the four categories, we must have the ability to recognize the particular health requirements as well as the stressors.

  • Then and only then can we develop sensible plans that promote the utmost health.
    We will refrain from going into too much detail about any of these categories because they each deserving of their own descriptions.

Diet

  • The total of all substances ingested makes up one's diet.

  • Getting all the nutrients our bodies need, such as protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fiber, and water, is not a problem for the majority of Americans.

  • All the nutrients are abundantly available in a diet rich in a range of fresh fruits and vegetables, raw nuts and seeds, whole grains, and legumes.

  • We will not only satisfy our nutritional needs if we limit our meals to these foods in their entire, unprocessed forms, but we will also stay away from the myriad dietary stressors that might harm our health.

  • Most significantly, we shall stay away from the too-concentrated, rich food that is currently the biggest threat to our health.

  • Because of the meat and dairy industries' relentless marketing campaigns, we have been misinformed about the "necessity" of including animal products in our diet.
    We cannot change our innate constitution or reverse the long-term effects of our prior lifestyle decisions, which is a sad reality.

  • In fact, when animal products are consumed in substantial amounts, it is impossible to maintain optimal protein and fat intake.

  • Colon cancer and constipation are linked to low fiber intake.

  • Amazingly, despite the evidence, individuals are being urged to eat animal products three or more times every day.

  • Alcohol, nicotine, coffee, refined carbohydrates (including sugar and honey), and oils are additional dietary irritants.

  • Unfortunately, these substances—with perhaps the exception of tobacco—remain socially acceptable, so avoiding them will need some effort on our side.
