Hello steemian friends how are you all doing today I hope all is well and you all are fine and in good health.

Today I will be partaking in a contest organised by @sahmie here in the healthy steem community which is title Food is Medicine

Do you believe that the foods we eat have medicinal value?

Yes of course, I definitely believe that the food with eat on a daily basis has medicinal value to our health and that is what makes us healthy.

Base on the nutritional content of the food we eat it is well known to provide some level of health benefit to us when we eat or consume them


Give 5 examples of foods that you consider to be powerful "medicines" for the body, and what they do.

Some of the 5 examples of foods that is considered to be powerful Medicine to the body are;


  • Berries
  • Fatty Fish
  • Mushrooms
  • Spices
  • Herbs

It is well known that the nutrients content in Berries helps in combating diseases, while fatty fish due to high level of inflammation are rich in omega-3 fatty acid which protects the body against diseases

Some compounds content in mushrooms helps in giving boost to our immune system, while Spices on the other hand are pack with pure plant compound which fight against diseases as well

And lastly Herbs which we all know traditionally are been used as medicines 💊 with their natural flavour in dishes they also contribute in giving boost to health promoting compound in the body.


How can we use food in our daily lives to keep healthy?

Basically they are no other special way to use food in our daily lives in other to be healthy rather in other to maintain a good and healthy feeding habit we must endeavour to eat food that contain the six classes of food.


Do you think it's important for schools to teach about how food can be like medicine for our bodies? Why?

Yes indeed it is very much important for schools to teach how food can be like medicine for our bodies and the reason for this is beyond imagination.

And truth be told since I was a kid I only knew that when you are hungry you have to eat, but it was school that taught me the true importance of eating, health benefits and so much more

So for this reason it is extremely important for schools to continue and enlighten our students about the importance and health benefits of eating food.

If I say in my opinion, what food makes you healthy, if you eat with your family, if you eat with your true friends, then they make you a different kind of nutritionist. Makes a healthy meal If you're eating alone, you don't eat as well as eating with your loved ones.
Because food has the greatest effect on your environment, the better the environment you are sitting and eating healthy food, the better it will affect you.
