🧘☑️ What is “social media” in your life, and how many hours a day do you spend on it?


Social media is a part and parcel of our day to day life. Through social media we pass the time watching our favorite videos, pictures and reels. Also through social media we can keep in touch with our old friends. Besides, we take help of social media for any kind of need. Social media is a universal platform where people can express their opinion. Many people are making money now through social media. People have now become quite independent by setting up their own online business. Now being a full time blogger I have to spend a lot of time on social media. I spend about 4 hours daily on social media.

🧘☑️ Name five ways social media can have a negative impact on your life and that of your loved ones.


Social media have huge negative impact on our life. I have divided these negative effects of social media into several categories.

1.
Negetive Impact on our Relationships


  • Among the negative effects of social media, one of the most damaging effects is on relationships.
  • Spending a lot of time on social media makes me reluctant to take on many responsibilities in relationships.
  • Most of the reels, pictures and videos we see on social media are unrealistic. Finding real-life matches to them leads to the breakdown of many relationships.
  • A relationship is breaking up due to less time spent with each other, on the other hand many old relationships are breaking up due to the ease of communication on social media which I think is a negative effect.

2.
Negetive Impact on our Mental health


  • Most people show off on social media. Many of us become jealous and suffer from mental turmoil after seeing all those issues.
  • Research by many famous organizations has shown that the rate of problems like mental turmoil, depression, frustration, loneliness has increased in many people due to the influence of social media.
  • Many times our personal information is leaked on social media so that person suffers from mental breakdown and so far there have been many records where many people have committed suicide due to the influence of social media.

3.
Negetive Impact in Physical Health


  • Being active on social media for a long time leads to less sleep which leads to various physical ailments.
  • Staring at the screen for a long time causes various eye diseases.
  • Many of us spend most of our time sitting in the room due to our use of social media and do very little movement around, due to which physical activities decrease and various diseases occur.

Negetive Impact in student life


  • Students face destruction due to negative effects of social media. Students engaging in social media during study time disrupts their studies.
  • Through social media, students get addicted to various addictions like gaming, chatting, grouping etc. Even social media is an addiction that disrupts students' studies.

5.
Negetive Impact on our religious life


  • Social media also has a negative impact on people's religious pursuits. As a Muslim woman, it is forbidden to upload one's own pictures, reels, videos on social media. Yet many do this.
  • Many stay away from religious activities due to wasting time on social media.

🧘☑️ If you had to implement 5 rules to make sure that social media became HEALTHIER in your environment, what would they be?

▶️Interacting with real people: We like to spend time on social media because it allows us to interact with many people. Many new friends can be made so the first rule to implement to make our social media healthy is to be careful in choosing friends. We only need to interact with real people.

▶️ Subscribe Educative Content : A social media environment is healthy only when our browsing is educational. So our subscription and browning will be educational content.

▶️ Limit Screen time: Everything in excess is harmful for us so we should limit our screen time while using social media. It will save us time.

▶️Don't publish personal life events on social media: Many of us use social media as a platform to share personal feelings which we shouldn't. Incidents of private life should be confined to private life rather than exposed publicly.

▶️Avoid using social media before sleep: It has become a habit of all of us to spend time on social media before sleeping and after waking up. We should all avoid browsing social media before going to bed, so that we can have adequate and sound sleep.
